Meanwhile, the governor&#8217;s\u2064 mansion is up for grabs \u200din Kentucky and\u200b Mississippi. New Jersey&#8217;s Republicans believe they have a real shot\u2063 at\u200d turning the state\u200b red in legislative elections, while there are \u200dalso \u2063fierce mayoral and district\u200d attorney\u200b battles throughout the United States. Voters will also decide several fascinating \u2062referendums, particularly in Ohio, Maine, and Texas. This Washington \u2062Examiner series, <strong>November to Remember<\/strong>, will dive into\u2063 all of \u200cthese and more over the following two \u200bweeks.\u200b Part eight will deal with Texas&#8217;s ballot questions.<\/p>\n<h3>Texans Decide the\u200c Future: 14 Conditional Amendments on the 2023\u200c Ballot<\/h3>\n<p>Texans will have the opportunity to wield \u200ctheir voting power on\u200b Nov.\u2063 7 to determine the future of 14 conditional \u2064amendments on \u200cthe 2023 ballot. These measures encompass an\u2064 array of\u2062 subjects, including more resources for higher education, expanding practices for farmers, increasing the age of retirement for \u200dstate judges, and a number of\u200b taxation considerations.<\/p>\n<p>To participate in the election, Texans must have registered to vote by Oct. 10, and voters \u200bhave a few days left to vote before Election Day, with \u2062early voting running\u200d from Oct. 23 to Nov. 3.<\/p>\n<h3>Maine Ballot Questions Highlight Constitutional Rulings and State \u200cInfighting<\/h3>\n<p>Here are the most prominent ballot measures\u2064 Texans will be voting on:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n    <strong>Proposition 1 \u2014 Safeguarding farming\u200c and ranching practices<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Proposition 1,\u2064 the Right to Farming, Ranching, Timber Production, Horticulture, and Wildlife Management Amendment, would\u2063 increase the threshold \u200dof state and local regulation of accepted farming and\u200b ranching practices. Proponents of the measure argue it would safeguard farmers and ranchers from regulations put in place by neighboring municipalities \u2063by preventing them from being sued for \u2063carrying out common farming operations and would clarify the \u2063scope of possible damages.<\/p>\n<p>Opponents of the measure warn the wording of the amendment could\u2063 be too\u200c broad and expands on an already harmful\u2063 existing \u200dlaw, citing the &#8220;right to\u2062 farm&#8221; statute passed in \u200d1981.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n    <strong>Proposition 3\u2062 \u2014 Prohibiting \u2062wealth and \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-master-of-politicizing-schools-says-education-is-too-politicized\/\" title=\"The Master of Politicizing Schools Says Education Is Too Politicized\">net worth tax<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Proposition 3, the Prohibit Taxes on Wealth or Net Worth Amendment, would add \u200da provision that bans the imposition of an individual wealth or net worth tax. The bill was approved by the Texas\u200c legislature in May.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas \u200dAmerican Federation of Teachers and Every Texan \u200bhave \u2064both registered in opposition to the amendment.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n    <strong>Proposition 5 \u2014 Texas University Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Proposition 5 would create the Texas University Fund, benefiting schools \u2062such as the University of Houston, Texas Tech University, University of North Texas, \u2063and Texas State University.<\/p>\n<p>The fund \u200cwould start with\u200d nearly $4 \u2063billion, which includes $3 billion investment from a surplus \u200cin the state legislature and $896 million from\u200b the state\u2019s \u200dNational Research University Fund.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n    <strong>Proposition \u200c13 \u2014 Increasing retirement age\u200c for \u2062state judges<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Proposition 13, the Increase Mandatory Retirement Age for \u2063State Judges Amendment, seeks to raise \u2063the retirement age for state justices and \u2063judges. \u200dCurrently, state judges must step down \u200bat \u200c75,\u200b but\u200d this amendment would extend the mandatory retirement age to 79. The law would also increase the minimum retirement \u200bage from 70 to 75.<\/p>\n<p>If passed, the additional four years \u2064would make Texas\u2019s \u200cmandatory\u2064 retirement age for \u2062judges the second highest in the country.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n    <strong>Proposition 14 \u2013 Centennial Parks Conservation\u2063 Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Proposition 14, Texas\u2019s Creation of \u200cthe Centennial Parks \u200cConservation Fund Amendment, would create a fund designed to finance the creation\u200d and improvement of state parks in Texas.
