Former\u200d House \u200cSpeaker Kevin\u2064 McCarthy endorsed an investigation into \u200cSantos&#8217;s actions by the Ethics Committee when the charges\u2062 were first brought against him.<\/p>\n<p>Newly elected House Speaker Mike Johnson addressed the potential expulsion of\u2064 Santos \u200dduring\u200d an interview with \u200dFox News&#8217;s Sean Hannity, stating that the decision may hinge\u200d on the \u200dmajority in \u200cthe House.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>&#8220;Here&#8217;s the reality: we have a \u200dfour-seat majority in the\u200b House, it is possible that \u200dthat number may be reduced even\u2063 more in the coming weeks \u2063and \u200dmonths,&#8221; said Johnson. \u200b&#8221;And so we&#8217;ll\u200c have what may be the most razor-thin majority in the \u200chistory \u200dof the Congress. We have no margin for error.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And so George Santos is\u200b due due process, right? \u2062My understanding is I think he&#8217;s\u200b appearing \u2063in a federal court tomorrow, \u2063and we have to allow \u2064the process to play itself out.
