Kennedy Jr.\u2019s\u200d Los Angeles home \u2062on Oct 25, the Independent\u2064 presidential candidate reiterated his plea to the Biden administration \u200dfor Secret Service protection.<\/p>\n<p>Homeland Security \u2062Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has refused twice to authorize Secret Service protection,\u200c Mr. Kennedy noted\u2062 Oct. 25 on X,\u2063 the \u200dsocial media \u2063platform formerly known as \u2062Twitter.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not right for the President to provide protection to his family\u200b and political favorites while denying it to political rivals. Police\u200d said he returned\u2064 to Mr. Kennedy\u2019s home and was\u2063 arrested at 5:45 \u200cp.m. for violating a protective order. He \u2064is being held on $30,000 bail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter being released from police custody, the man immediately\u2064 returned to Kennedy&#8217;s residence and was arrested again. The candidate was home at the time of both arrests,\u201d Mr. Kennedy\u2019s campaign said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Macht is known to the U.S. Secret Service and Mr.\u2063 Kennedy\u2019s security Gavin de Becker and Associates (GDBA), Mr. Kennedy\u2019s campaign said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGDBA had notified\u2062 the Secret Service about this specific obsessed \u200dindividual several \u200btimes in recent months, and shared alarming communications he has sent to the\u200c candidate,\u201d according to the press release.<\/p>\n<p>On \u200cSept. 15, when Mr. \u2062Kennedy was scheduled to speak at the \u200dWilshire Ebell Theatre \u2063in Los Angeles to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, the LAPD reported receiving a call \u2064reporting a \u200dman who \u201cclaimed to\u2064 be a U.S. Marshal\u201d standing in front \u200cof the \u2062event venue with \u201ca badge \u2064on [his] lapel, a gun, and a shoulder holster,\u201d a spokesperson \u2064told The Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect,\u200b 44-year-old Adrian Paul Aispuro, was initially booked\u200c on a felony \u2062gun charge, before later being charged with carrying a loaded firearm, carrying \u2064a concealed firearm, and \u200bimpersonating an\u2064 officer, all misdemeanors.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the suspect claimed to be employed for the event but was not recognized by Mr. Kennedy\u2019s\u2063 security team.<\/p>\n<p>The LAPD detective who investigated \u2064Mr. Aispuro\u2019s case said in court testimony that the suspect \u201cposes a significant \u2063danger in the near\u200c future of causing personal injury\u2063 to others by having access to firearms, magazines, and ammunition,\u201d according\u200c to the letter.<\/p>\n<p>In the letter, Mr. Kennedy\u2019s campaign wrote about Mr. \u200cMacht\u200d that \u201cSecret Service has been informed about this man several times in recent months. Secret Service is aware\u2064 that he has\u200d sent hundreds of emails to the candidate and \u200bbelieves \u2063he is being \u200bfollowed by people who intend to kill him. His obsession with RFK Jr. tends to be at times hostile and angry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Kennedy\u2019s campaign added that Mr. \u2063Macht will likely be released by the time Mr. Mayorkas reads the letter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat will mean \u200dthree\u200c people\u2015all of whom have made dangerous approaches to the candidate\u2015will \u200dbe at large and able to\u2063 continue their efforts to\u2064 encounter the candidate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The DHS secretary, currently Mr. Mayorkas, is\u200c tasked with identifying \u200c\u201cmajor\u201d candidates in a\u200d presidential race in consultation with the speaker of the \u2063House, the House minority leader,\u200c the majority\u2062 and \u2063minority leaders of the Senate, and\u200d one additional member selected by the other members of the committee, which as\u200c a whole isn&#8217;t answerable to the incumbent president.<\/p>\n<p>Following the Sept. 15 incident, Mr. Kennedy wrote on X,\u2063 &#8220;I&#8217;m still entertaining a hope that \u200bPresident Biden will allow \u2062me Secret Service protection.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to\u2062 the Oct. 25 letter, after \u200ccompleting its risk assessment earlier this \u2062year, \u2064the Secret \u200dService determined \u201cKennedy\u2019s family history, perceived controversial stance on vaccines, and his status as a challenger to President Biden for the Democratic presidential \u2064nomination \u2062elevates his \u200drisk for adverse attention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Members of the public and others in the vicinity of the candidate are also at \u2062increased risk\u2064 of being injured \u2064or killed in the absence of Secret \u200bService protection, \u200dGavin de Becker wrote \u200din \u2063previous correspondence to DHS.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. de Becker also\u2062 noted that \u201cmany \u2064media reports\u2064 have incorrectly reported\u2063 that Secret Service protection\u2062 is afforded to presidential candidates only at 120 days prior to the election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not\u200b accurate, as you know,\u201d Mr. de Becker \u200cadded before outlining examples of how President Jimmy Carter\u2019s administration offered Secret Service protection for multiple candidates, including Ronald Reagan, \u201clong before the 1980 election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Carter administration provided Secret Service protection for Sen. Edward \u200bKennedy, Mr. \u2062Kennedy\u2019s uncle, 441 days\u2064 before the 1980 election, \u201ceven\u200d though Kennedy hadn\u2019t formally announced his candidacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 1983 and 1987, Mr. de Becker\u200d wrote, \u200cthe Reagan administration provided Secret Service protection to \u2062Democrat presidential candidate Jesse Jackson 362 days and 351 days before \u2063the 1984 \u2062and 1988 \u2063elections.<\/p>\n<p>Every subsequent administration offered Secret Service protection to \u2063presidential candidates, Mr. de Becker noted. In March 2020, President Donald Trump gave Democrat candidate Joe Biden the courtesy \u201cabout 231 days before the election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery administration for 55 years afforded early Secret \u200dService protection to candidates who requested\u2063 protection. Your \u200brefusal \u200bis the sole outlier, making the Biden administration \u200bthe only one to \u2064refuse a protection request.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) sent a letter\u200d to \u00a0Mr. Mayorkas,\u200d asking why the agency has not yet\u200b provided protection for Mr. Kennedy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn July 21, 2023, you made \u2064the executive decision to deny\u200d Secret Service protection to Robert Francis Kennedy, Jr. after eighty-eight days of failing\u2063 to respond to \u200bhis\u200b either formal request for protection, or follow-ups by his campaign,\u201d Mr.\u2063 Cruz wrote in the\u2062 Oct. 16 letter. \u2063\u201cThis delay represents a stark departure from the standard\u200b fourteen-day turnaround for this type of request.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Cruz reminded Mr. Mayorkas of the\u200d incident on \u200dSept. 15\u2063 in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis near assassination attempt hardly came as a surprise \u200cgiven \u200cthat Mr. \u2064Kennedy\u2019s original request for Secret Service protection\u2062 included a 67-page\u2063 report from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cruz-says-rfk-jr-should-be-offered-secret-service\/\" title=\"Cruz suggests RFK Jr. deserves Secret Service protection.\">leading private security firm detailing<\/a> a myriad of unique and well-established safety risks,\u201d the letter said.<\/p>\n<p>Two weeks after that incident, \u200cgovernment accountability organization Judicial Watch received \u206211 pages of Secret Service records that detailed its denial of Mr. Kennedy\u2019s protection request.<\/p>\n<p>The report stated that Mr.\u2064 Kennedy received several threats from \u201cknown subjects\u201d and that he is at a higher \u201crisk for adverse attention.\u201d \u2062A Secret Service assessment cited several security\u2063 threats to\u200d Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Cruz noted.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter sent to the hotel where Mr. Kennedy announced his presidential run, an individual said he \u200cwanted to\u2064 \u201cdiscuss [their] sins\u201d with\u2063 Mr. Kennedy and that a \u201cmadman\u201d may commit\u200d a \u201cserious terrorist act.\u201d\u2062 Another individual regularly sends Mr. Kennedy threatening emails, stating that he will \u201cbury\u201d Mr. Kennedy, \u200dthat \u201ceveryone will die,\u201d \u200cand that he will make Mr. Kennedy \u201csuffer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFurther complicating matters, the assessment also \u200brevealed the Secret Service\u2019s own concession that Mr. \u200dKennedy is likely at risk of \u2064assassination \u2018for\u200d no \u2062other reason\u2063 than [the mere fact] that he is a \u200cKennedy,\u2019\u201d Mr. Cruz stated.<\/p>\n<p>Dennis Kucinich served as Mr. Kennedy\u2019s campaign manager \u200duntil earlier this month. On Sept. 18, he \u2064sent a letter to President Biden urging him to authorize Secret Service protection\u200d for the candidate.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe \u200cthreat level to our candidate, Robert F. \u200bKennedy, Jr., is increasing every day. \u200bHe is not the only one in danger\u2014every person who attends a \u200dcampaign event is at \u2062risk,\u201d Mr. Kucinich wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cA specter of violence \u2064haunts our political \u2062process. Indeed, political assassinations pose a grave threat to democracy. It is not hard to imagine \u2062the civil chaos and political disintegration that could ensue with the return of the kind of assassinations\u200c of public officials and presidential candidates that \u2064marred the 1960s,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Kucinich noted, \u201cIt is astonishing that under such circumstances, you would deny \u2064Secret\u2063 Service coverage \u2063to Robert F. \u2062Kennedy Jr., who has polled \u200bmore than 20 percent in the first five\u200d primary states, and whose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rfk-jr-reiterates-plea-to-biden-administration-for-secret-service-protection\/\" title=\"RFK Jr. urges Biden Administration for Secret Service protection.\">net\u200c favorability rating exceeds<\/a> both yours and Donald Trump&#8217;s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also\u2062 reminded President Biden of the\u200c assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy.<\/p>\n<p>Near the end of \u200dthe letter, Mr. Kucinich remarked that \u200bPresident Biden had\u2062 joined him on the\u2062 campaign trail \u201cin one of two efforts \u2062I made \u200bto gain the Democratic nomination\u201d and that the two have known each other for 50 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that \u2064you do not want to see America reeling again from \u2062the\u2062 consequences of\u2063 another\u2064 political assassination.
