When Biden continues to ignore his\u2063 legal responsibilities,\u200b we will step in to support our communities.&#8221;<\/div>\n<p>Monroe County, where\u2064 the Florida Keys are located, has only 194 deputies to \u200chandle illegal border crossings while ensuring public safety, according to the\u2063 governor&#8217;s office.<\/p>\n<p>Executive Order\u200d 23-03 involves the utilization\u200d of \u2064FLNG\u2064 aircraft\u200d and helicopters, as well as assistance from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation\u2063 Commission&#8217;s (FWC) marine patrol. This aims to support water \u2064interdictions\u200b and ensure the safety of migrants attempting\u2063 to reach Florida through \u200dthe \u200bFlorida Straits.<\/p>\n<p>The governor&#8217;s office emphasized that while the country has\u200d a history of assisting refugees, such\u2063 as\u200d Cubans fleeing communist \u2062regimes, it has always\u2063 required \u2063significant support and collaboration from \u200dthe federal government.<\/p>\n<p>In\u200d January 2023, approximately 300 illegal immigrants entered Dry Tortugas National Park,\u200d located 70 miles west \u200dof Key West, while \u200canother group of 45 entered illegally in Key West. These influxes of\u200b migrants led to the closure of the park to ensure the safety of visitors and staff.<\/p>\n<p>Since \u2063August 2022, more\u2064 than 8,000 migrants \u200bhave been encountered by federal, state, and local law enforcement in the waters off the coast of \u200bFlorida.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Governor DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flgov.com\/2023\/05\/25\/governor-ron-desantis-announces-operation-lone-star-in-full-force-as-florida-resources-arrive-at-southern-border\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> on May 25 that Florida is prepared to assist Texas with its border crisis. Texas requested assistance through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) to address the public safety and\u200d national security threat resulting from the federal government&#8217;s failure\u200b to secure the \u2063international border with Mexico.<\/div>\n<p>Florida supported Texas during Operation Lone \u2063Star\u200c from June 26, 2021, \u2063to August\u200c 14, 2021. (The \u2063Epoch Times)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Operation Vigilant Sentry, initiated in 2004, continues to address\u200c illegal maritime migration \u2062in\u200c the Caribbean corridor of the \u200dUnited States.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">&#8220;It is the arm of the task \u200dforce\u200c that deploys joint air \u2063and surface assets and personnel to address illegal maritime migration in the Caribbean corridor of the United\u200c States,&#8221; stated the \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.uscg.mil\/Press-Releases\/Article\/3280774\/operation-vigilant-sentry-stopping-illegal-migration-at-sea\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United States Coast Guard<\/a>. &#8220;The primary objective: to protect the safety of life at \u2063sea and to deter\u200d and dissuade a maritime mass migration with our federal, state, and local partners.&#8221;<\/div>\n<p>Florida&#8217;s departments play a crucial role in this effort. FLNG is assisting the Texas \u2062Military \u2062Department and Texas National Guard with 436 on-site\u200d personnel trained \u200cin the use of force and narcotic overdose medication.<\/p>\n<p>FDLE has \u200cdeployed agents and eight support team members along the Texas border, resulting in 32 arrests,\u200b including multiple gang members. These suspects face various Texas state charges, \u200bsuch as human smuggling, firearms offenses, smuggling of persons, and possession of controlled substances. The arrests have led to the seizure of drugs like \u200ccocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, 101 FHP Troopers are stationed in Texas to secure the southern border. In comparison, there were 17 deaths in 2020 and five\u200b in 2021.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">&#8220;These individuals are ignoring real risks,&#8221; stated \u2064Chief Warrant Officer Matthew James in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.uscg.mil\/Press-Releases\/Article\/3280774\/operation-vigilant-sentry-stopping-illegal-migration-at-sea\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a>. &#8220;Just about every vessel we encounter in these voyages\u200b was \u200bconstructed haphazardly with improvised materials and taking\u2063 on water. The few vessels that appeared \u200bto be\u200d well-built were dangerously overloaded, and capsizing\u2064 was imminent when we\u2064 arrived on the scene.
