If you don\u2019t\u200b know her, you likely know the properties for which she\u2019s responsible if you have any familiarity with popular culture over the past 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Rhimes was\u200c the showrunner, producer and\/or head writer on ABC properties \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy,\u201d \u201cScandal\u201d and \u201cHow to\u200b Get Away With Murder.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s now at Netflix, where she\u2019s\u2064 been the \u200ddriving force behind \u2062\u201cBridgerton\u201d \u2014 and, according to \u2062a Saturday \u2062piece in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-features\/shonda-rhimes-is-ready-to-own-her-s-the-game-changing-showrunner-on-leaving-abc-culture-shock-at-netflix-and-overcoming-her-fears-4079375\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, her breaking point with Disney-owned ABC allegedly came over\u2064 theme\u200d park passes.<\/p>\n<p>The report noted that Rhimes \u201cwas producing some 70 hours of \u2063annual television in 256 territories; she was making tens of millions of dollars for herself and more than $2 billion for \u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/disney-gets-hit-hurts-100th-birthday-daily-wire-announces-competitor-woke-snow-white-remake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disney<\/a>, and still there were battles with ABC.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019d push, she\u2019d push back. Over budget. Over content.\u200d Over an ad she and the stars of her series \u2014 \u2018Grey\u2019s Anatomy,\u2019 \u2018Scandal\u2019 and\u200b \u2018How to Get Away With Murder\u2019 \u2014 \u2062made for then-presidential nominee Hillary Clinton,\u201d the\u2062 outlet claimed.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s hardly a dealbreaker in\u2062 deep-blue Hollywood,\u200b however.\u200d In fact, THR reported she was in the\u2063 midst of negotiating a multiyear deal despite the fact that she felt creatively stifled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u200c felt like I\u2062 was dying,\u201d \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/latest-list-celebrities-elon-musk-scared-off-twitter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rhimes<\/a> told \u2062the outlet. (Actual \u2064dying people were unavailable for comment because they were too busy,\u2062 you know, dying.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe knew her breaking\u200b point would come, but what it would\u2062 be she never\u200d could\u2062 have predicted,\u201d \u200cTHR reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs part of her ABC relationship,\u201d it said, \u201cRhimes\u2064 had \u2063been given an all-inclusive pass to Disneyland \u2014 and without a partner, she\u2019d negotiated a second for her nanny. But on this day, she needed one for her sister,\u200c too, as she\u2019d be taking Rhimes\u2019 teenage\u2064 daughter while the nanny chaperoned her younger two.\u200d If \u2063the\u200c passes had been interchangeable, Rhimes would have\u2063 been happy to give up hers \u2014 when\u200c would she have time\u200c to go to Disneyland anyway?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter some \u200dunwanted back-and-forth \u2014 \u2018We never do this,\u2019 she was told more than\u200d once \u2014 Rhimes was issued \u2062an additional pass. But when her daughters \u2062arrived in\u200d Anaheim, only one of the\u2064 passes \u2064worked. Rhimes lobbed a call \u200bto a \u2063high-ranking executive at the company. None \u200dof them is, in case you haven\u2019t been paying\u2063 attention.<\/p>\n<p>However, Disney\u2063 is the poster child for \u200dthis kind of penny-wise, pound-foolish thinking, particularly when the foolish pound <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/disneys-woke-lightyear-tanks-us-box-office-mainstream-media-cant-seem-figure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is\u200b rainbow-hued<\/a> or has a Black Lives Matter sticker attached \u200cto it.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, thanks to a\u2063 string of failures and the inability of\u200b the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/disney-quietly-deletes-50m-project-existence-less-2-months-release\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disney+ streaming \u200dservice<\/a> to catch on as the company had hoped, the accountants are busy \u200cshaving \u2062unnecessary expenses anywhere they can be found \u2062in the House of Mouse.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2063 hope they\u2019re satisfied that at least they tried to save $154 (or whatever) on the comped ticket Shonda\u200c Rhimes was demanding.<\/p>\n<p>Shame about losing the creator who helmed properties that earned $2 billion \u2064for Disney in the process, but you\u2019ve gotta\u2064 have\u200d priorities \u2014 and the money lost by keeping \u2062the\u200c thoroughly\u200b unnecessary lesbian kiss in \u201cLightyear\u201d to thumb the \u200dcompany\u2019s nose at Florida Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/disney-throwing-white-flag-ceo-extends-offer-desantis-gov-threatens-taxes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ron DeSantis<\/a> was \u2062clearly more important than letting one\u200d of its biggest cash cows think she could\u2064 get away with an extra theme park pass.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div class=\"author_subscription_pitch\">.author_subscription_pitch p{margin:5px;}<\/p>\n<p><em><b>A Note from Our\u2063 Founder:<\/b><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Silicon Valley and\u2064 the Big \u200bTech tyrants have done everything \u200bthey can to put The Western Journal \u200cout\u2063 of business.
