The \u200bage for first-time fathers has increased, \u200bwith the percentage \u200c doubling<\/a> for first-time dads over 40. While research around this trend is sparse, in general becoming a parent later in life \u200dis\u2064 seen as a good thing<\/a><\/a>. Older dads are more financially secure,\u200d they\u2019re better able to\u200c spend time with\u2064 their kids,\u200c and \u200btheoretically, they\u2019re more patient. Also, though, they\u2019re older. Energy levels aren\u2019t quite what they were when these \u2062fathers were\u2063 in\u2064 their twenties. They\u2019re less in tune with pop\u2062 culture. \u2064They\u2019re edging into \u201cget off \u2063my \u200blawn\u201d territory.<\/p>\n

As such, the plight of older \u2062dads is an extremely topical\u200d subject for comedy. \u2064Dealing with the aches and\u200c pains of \u200caging \u2064while attempting to chase\u200c young\u2019uns\u2063 around, playing catch with declining eyesight \u2064and\u2063 reflexes, and\u2062 resisting the urge to \u2062yell \u201cget off my lawn!\u201d when the \u2063neighborhood kids come to visit are things many of us deal with, even those of us \u200bwho sired\u200b offspring \u2063in our thirties rather than \u2062our forties or fifties. Thus, when I saw that comedian Bill Burr, who became\u2064 a father \u200dat 48, decided to delve into the topic with \u200bhis new movie \u201cOld Dads\u201d on Netflix, I was intrigued.<\/p>\n
