Dan Meuser (R-Pa.) dropped out of the running \u2063on October 23rd, there\u2062 are now\u200d eight remaining GOP candidates vying for the position. These\u200d candidates include House Majority Whip\u2063 Tom Emmer, Reps.\u200b Kevin Hern (R-Okla.), Mike Johnson (R-La.), Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), Jack Bergman (R-Mich.), Austin Scott (R-Ga.), Pete Sessions (R-Texas), and Gary Palmer (R-Alabama).<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) failed\u200d to \u200bsecure the gavel after three rounds of voting. \u200dThe House GOP removed him \u2062as their speaker-designee \u2064and took a \u200bbreak for the \u200cweekend.
