(John Fredricks\/The Epoch Times)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The state and U.S. Forestry Service \u2064had more firefighting\u2062 aircraft and crews, and the state\u200b received record amounts of precipitation, especially as \u2064Southern California caught the tail \u200dend\u200b of Hurricane Hilary in August.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the public is getting more savvy with wildfire safety too, so I think that plays into it,\u201d Mr. \u2064Foxworthy said.<\/p>\n<p>California\u2019s fire season typically runs from April to October. However, \u200boften dry and gusty Santa \u2064Ana winds\u2014a regional\u200c phenomenon of strong, dry and warm winds that start inland and affect the coastal region\u2014increase in October and\u200b November in Southern \u2064California and Orange County. Some of the most destructive wildfires in the state have occurred later in the year as a result.<\/p>\n<p>Two fires in the state\u2019s northwest\u200c region greatly contributed to the bulk\u200c of California\u2019s fire season \u200bthis year.<\/p>\n<p>The Happy Camp Complex fire that started Aug. \u200d16 in Siskiyou County, California, near \u200bthe Oregon Border,\u2062 was completely contained by Monday, \u200caccording to the U.S. Forest Service.<\/p>\n<p>The blaze was ignited \u200bby \u2063a series of thunderstorms in \u200dthe Klamath National Forest that brought \u2062lightning and sparked several small fires. Once merged, the blaze burned 21,750 \u2062acres.<\/p>\n<p>Another massive fire near the Happy Camp fire was the Smith River Complex fire, in Del Norte County, caused by lightning the same day. (Justin Sullivan\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<h2>Winter Weather on the Way<\/h2>\n<p>Parts of the Golden \u200dState are expected to get windy,\u200d wet, or snowy fall weather beginning this week, according to weather experts.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>National Weather Service forecasters are calling\u200b for\u200d a 50-percent chance of snow in \u2063the\u200d South Lake\u2062 Tahoe area by late Wednesday night, clearing on Thursday.
