That&#8217;s more than 266,000 individuals who would have otherwise been denied \u200bentry\u2064 out of over 278,000 who scheduled appointments. These shocking numbers expose the true nature of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas&#8217; operation, which \u200bis nothing more than \u2064a cover-up for \u2062the mass release of individuals with \u200dno legitimate claim\u2063 to be admitted into\u2064 the country. <\/p>\n<p>Chairman\u2062 Rep. Mayorkas if they\u200d were not \u2062produced by Oct. 20. His\u200c committee set that deadline on Oct. 13, months after an initial deadline for document production lapsed.<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;To date, the Department has neither produced nor provided a timeline to\u200b produce the documents or information requested in the Committee&#8217;s June \u200c1, 2023 \u200dand September 14, 2023 letters, all of which will assist \u200cthe Committee&#8217;s oversight of the Department&#8217;s CBP\u2062 One \u200dapplication,&#8221; Chair Green wrote in an Oct. 13 letter to Sec. Mayorkas.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c committee statement claims the \u200dfirst documents responsive to their request arrived &#8220;just minutes&#8221; before that deadline, the end of the business day on a Friday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">&#8220;It shouldn&#8217;t take \u200da subpoena \u2062threat from Congress to \u200cget these answers,&#8221; \u2064said Chair Green, \u2064who <a href=\"https:\/\/homeland.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/06.01.23_Mayorkas-letter_CBP-One-app.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first requested<\/a> the documents to lead oversight\u2064 of the CBP One\u200c app on June 1 of this year. His\u2064 original deadline was June 15.<\/div>\n<p>The committee is worried in part about the\u2062 abuse of the app by drug cartels.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">&#8220;The\u200c national security implications are that the cartels are\u2064 just able to manipulate everything that the secretary is doing to \u2062continue their\u2062 operations,&#8221; a committee source who asked not to be named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/article\/exclusive-top-republican-tells-mayorkas-to-expect-subpoena-if-documents-arent-produced-by-friday-5510974\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously told<\/a> The Epoch Times outlining the subpoena threat.<\/div>\n<p>The CBP One app was first released in 2020 and expanded early in 2021 after President Joe Biden took office and Sec.\u2064 Mayorkas was appointed to lead the DHS. The \u2062app \u200dhas faced fierce criticism \u200cfrom a range of groups.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">The Unitarian-Universalist Service Committee has condemned it, saying it &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/95-8-percent-of-inadmissible-aliens-using-cbp-one-app-released-into-america-homeland-security-committee\/\" title=\"Over 95% of Inadmissible Aliens Released into America via CBP One App: Homeland Security Committee\">imped[es] asylum-seekers&#8217; rights<\/a>.&#8221;<\/div>\n<h2>Release Rate &#8216;Speaks for Itself&#8217;<\/h2>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Grant Newman of NumbersUSA, an \u2062organization that seeks to decrease the rate of both illegal and legal immigration to the United States, told The Epoch Times that the 95.8 percent parole statistic &#8220;speaks for itself.&#8221; He said it &#8220;demonstrates precisely why DHS fought so hard to keep the data to itself.&#8221;<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Chairman Green was clearly rightfully concerned that the CBP\u2064 One app\u2063 was being used to cover up the\u2063 Biden Administration&#8217;s \u2062shell game at the border, where illegal immigrants could now schedule their illegal entry at a port of entry rather than in-between, and be released to disappear\u200c into the interior,&#8221;\u200c he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-figure\">\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"aligncenter\"><figcaption>Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas speaks during a press briefing at the White House in Washington on \u2064May 11, 2023. \u200c(Madalina Vasiliu\/The Epoch Times)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The\u2064 committee majority&#8217;s analysis found that 97 percent of Venezuelan nationals who used the app received\u2063 parole and were permitted to enter the country. By \u2063manipulating\u2064 the system and exploiting its vulnerabilities, \u200dthese groups can continue their illicit operations\u200b without significant hindrance.<\/p>\n<p>The committee&#8217;s concerns are \u2063not unfounded. The CBP One app has faced criticism since \u2062its inception for its potential to undermine the integrity of the immigration process. The\u2064 Unitarian-Universalist Service Committee, \u200bfor example, has condemned the app, arguing that it \u2064impedes the rights of asylum-seekers. This latest revelation \u2063only\u2064 adds to the mounting evidence\u200c of \u200bthe app&#8217;s shortcomings.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman Mark Green&#8217;s threat to subpoena Secretary Mayorkas if the requested documents were \u200cnot produced by the \u200bdeadline reflects the committee&#8217;s frustration with the lack of transparency and accountability from\u2062 the DHS. It should not take such drastic measures to obtain crucial information for oversight and to ensure\u200c the integrity of our immigration system.<\/p>\n<p>The release of \u200dover 266,000 individuals with no legitimate claim to be admitted into the country underscores the need for urgent action.
