Angel Hernandez, a sophomore track star \u2062from Chisholm Trail \u2062High School \u2064in Fort Worth, had \u2064just achieved his personal best 5K time on October 13. \u200bHowever, as he crossed\u200b the \u2063finish line \u200bat the University Interscholastic League District \u200b6A competition \u2063in Haltom City, he collapsed \u200band never got up again.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, Angel managed to \u2062get to his feet with the help\u200b of his friends and made his way to a nearby water station.\u2062 Unfortunately, he\u200c collapsed once \u200dmore and was\u200c rushed to a nearby hospital,\u2062 where he was pronounced dead about an\u2063 hour \u2063later. The cause of his death \u200dis \u200dcurrently under investigation by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Angel was laid to rest on Friday, and his school district\u2019s superintendent \u200dposthumously presented him with a varsity letter jacket. His retired track coach,\u2063 Brent Brevard, \u200cdescribed him as a \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tuskegee-university-football-player-model-student-athlete-shot-and-killed\/\" title=\"Tuskegee University Football Player \u201cModel Student-Athlete\u201d Shot and Killed\">model student-athlete<\/a> who worked hard, cared about his teammates, \u200cand\u2064 excelled academically.<\/p>\n<p>The Ranger Record, the school\u2019s newspaper, reported that Angel&#8217;s teammates considered him to be like family. One of \u2064his friends, Alejandro Bailey, described the heartbreaking moment when Angel collapsed after crossing the finish line.\u2064 The teammates stayed together, offering support and \u200choping for his recovery.
