This sacred practice invites us to delve deep within ourselves and cultivate the\u2062 seven emotional attributes that \u200bshape the human experience, \u200cas\u200b taught by\u200c Jewish wisdom.<\/p>\n<h3>The Seven Emotional Attributes:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Chesed:<\/strong> Loving-kindness<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gevurah:<\/strong> Justice and discipline<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tiferet:<\/strong> Compassion<\/li>\n<li><strong>Netzach:<\/strong> Endurance<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hod:<\/strong> \u2063 Humility<\/li>\n<li><strong>Yesod:<\/strong> Bonding<\/li>\n<li><strong>Malchut:<\/strong> Sovereignty, leadership<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>One individual who\u2064 embodied \u2063these \u2062remarkable traits was\u200d my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/opinion-desantis-derangement-syndrome-is-spreading\/\" title=\"OPINION: \u2018DeSantis Derangement Syndrome\u2019 Is Spreading\">high school classmate<\/a>, Omer Balva. We shared our formative years at \u200bCharles E. Smith Jewish Day School (JDS) in Rockville, Maryland, and graduated together in 2019.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1814760\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1814760\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1814760\">Omer\u200c (center) in kindergarten\u2063 pictured\u200c with author (directly behind) [Courtesy of author]<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1814766\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1814766\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1814766\">Omer (red shirt) pictured with author (pink shirt) \u2062 [Courtesy of author]<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Tragically, Omer, 23, was taken from us in an attack by Hezbollah terrorists. While visiting his hometown of Rockville, Maryland, his infantry unit was called up for \u200dduty. \u200cDespite the pleas of his loved ones, Omer&#8217;s unwavering determination led him \u200cback\u2064 to Israel. His commitment \u2064and endurance were truly\u200d remarkable.<\/p>\n<p>Omer grew up in the Washington, D.C., area but chose to move to\u2063 Israel with\u2063 his family and enlist in the army after high school. \u2064Before embarking on this journey, he wrote a heartfelt letter to \u200chis best friend, \u200dEthan Missner, \u2063expressing his dreams for \u200dthe future \u200cand their unbreakable\u200b bond.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of his passing, Omer had just purchased\u200c a diamond ring for \u200chis girlfriend of four\u200d years, Odelia. In a touching Instagram post dedicated \u200cto her birthday, he\u200b professed his love and excitement for a future\u2063 together.<\/p>\n<p>Omer&#8217;s\u200d infectious smile, zest for life, and \u2063contagious \u2062laughter left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Since his untimely departure, countless members of our class \u200chave shared stories of his inclusivity, compassion, and genuine concern\u2064 for\u2063 others. Omer had\u200c a remarkable ability to make everyone \u2063feel seen \u200cand valued, even\u2063 those who felt\u200d marginalized.\u200b He went above and\u2064 beyond, delivering frozen\u2062 yogurt to friends late at night and lending a listening ear. His compassion and\u200b loving-kindness were truly extraordinary.<\/p>\n<p>While \u200dstudying the\u2064 Arab-Israeli conflict, many of our classmates expressed criticism towards Israel. However, Omer stood unwavering in his belief in the beauty of\u200c the Zionist\u200c dream, Jewish strength, and his family&#8217;s\u200b deep connection \u2064to\u200d the state of \u2063Israel. He\u2064 firmly believed that Jews stood for\u2064 peace and that the \u2062State of Israel represented justice. Omer once said, \u200d&#8221;If I ever die, I\u200c want it to \u200cbe for the State of Israel.&#8221; His commitment to \u2062justice was unwavering.<\/p>\n<p>Omer&#8217;s humility shone through in various\u2063 aspects\u200c of his life. He fearlessly \u200cjoined the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-womens-soccer-team-kneels-for-anthem-wears-black-lives-matter\/\" title=\"US Women's Soccer Team Kneels for Anthem, Wears 'Black Lives Matter'\">soccer team<\/a>, served as\u2063 a counselor\u2062 for younger students on school retreats, and\u2063 even took on the challenge of starring in the musical \u2062 <em>Mamma Mia!<\/em> during his senior \u2062year. Despite being \u2063new to the world of musicals, he dedicated himself to practice and delivered\u200b a \u2062performance that captivated us all.<\/p>\n<p>After graduation,\u200d Omer enlisted \u2062in the IDF and joined the Garin Tzabar lone soldiers integration program \u200calongside \u200dour classmate, Lily Daroff. During a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/local-hero-omer-balva-falls-in-war-against-hezbollah-terror\/\" title=\"Local hero Omer Balva loses life in battle against Hezbollah terror.\">physically demanding team-based running\u2062 test<\/a>, \u200dOmer\u200d selflessly pushed Lily forward, ensuring she\u2064 made it to\u2062 the finish line. He\u2064 had\u200c a remarkable ability to lift others up and \u2062forge deep \u2063connections.<\/p>\n<p>Lily, \u200bwho \u2064served \u2063in the spokesperson&#8217;s unit of the\u2064 IDF, visited \u200dOmer multiple times to create \u200cvideo content for her unit. Regardless\u200d of the \u200ccircumstances, Omer remained positive and\u200d exhibited true leadership. His\u200d soldiers respected and\u200b loved\u2064 him dearly. He\u200d was a natural\u200d leader.<\/p>\n<p>During \u200cour senior class trip\u2064 to Israel, we \u2062gathered in Jerusalem to\u2064 welcome Shabbat at the\u2062 Western Wall. As we swayed arm in \u2064arm, singing the Adon Olam\u200c prayer, \u200dOmer expressed that this was when he\u200b felt the presence of God most strongly.<\/p>\n<p>This past Friday, Omer bid farewell to his family \u2064with a heartfelt message: &#8220;I love you all.\u200c We are heading out. I will\u2062 see you Sunday morning. Shabbat shalom.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Omer leaves behind his sister Shachar, his brothers Barak\u2064 and Itai, and his parents, Sigal \u200band\u2063 Eyal. Although I \u2064was not part of\u2063 Omer&#8217;s inner\u200c circle, \u2063his endless kindness and natural\u200b leadership touched me\u200d deeply. \u200bI miss him immensely. Baruch Dayan Ha\u2019emet.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> How did Omer \u2063Balva\u2062 demonstrate the importance \u200dof \u2062humility in his actions and deeds?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Mly believed in the importance \u200bof defending his homeland and protecting the Jewish people. Omer&#8217;s sense of justice and discipline\u2062 guided his actions\u200d and choices throughout his life.<\/p>\n<p>Humility was another characteristic that defined Omer. Despite his numerous accomplishments \u2062and admirable qualities, he never sought recognition or attention. Instead, he quietly went\u200d about his actions and deeds, always putting others before himself. His humility was a true testament to his character and the values he upheld.<\/p>\n<p>Omer also \u2064understood the importance of bonding and building connections with others. He \u2063treasured his friendships and relationships, investing time and effort into\u200b nurturing them. Whether it\u2063 was organizing gatherings or\u2063 simply being there for a friend \u2062in need, Omer knew that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jada-pinkett-smith-says-she-and-will-smith-have-been-separated-since-2016\/\" title=\"Jada Pinkett Smith: We've been 'separated' since 2016.\">true strength lies<\/a> in our ability to support and uplift one another.<\/p>\n<p>In his short life, Omer exemplified the qualities of leadership and sovereignty. He took charge\u2064 of his own \u200cdestiny and pursued his dreams fearlessly. \u2062Omer understood that true leadership comes from a place of\u200c authenticity, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the world.<\/p>\n<p>As\u2062 we embark on the journey of counting the Omer, Omer Balva serves as a \u2064shining example of the growth\u2064 and reflection that this practice offers. His life has taught us the importance of cultivating these seven emotional attributes and integrating them into our own lives.<\/p>\n<p>During this sacred time, let us commit to internalizing and embodying Chesed, Gevurah, Tiferet, Netzach, Hod, Yesod,\u200d and Malchut.
