If the last three years\u200c have proven\u2063 anything, it\u2019s that America\u2019s top universities are deeply sick, and \u201cprogressive\u201d ideology is\u2064 to blame.<\/p>\n

In 2020, left-wing faculty made certain everyone<\/em> knows that Black Lives Matter and shamed anyone\u200c who was skeptical of\u200d that Marxist-led organization. Flash forward to October 2023,\u2062 and these same crusaders couldn\u2019t care less about slaughtered, tortured, beheaded, and dismembered Israeli Jews \u2014 and we have it\u200c in\u2063 writing.<\/p>\n

Take\u2064 the death of \u2064George Floyd\u200c in\u2063 May\u2062 2020, an opioid addict<\/a> with a \u200b\u201chigh tolerance\u200d for fentanyl\u201d and a criminal history of drug abuse. Floyd died in police custody \u2014 with \u2063a \u201cfatal level\u201d of \u2064fentanyl<\/a> \u200din his body \u2014 after Minneapolis cops arrested him for buying cigarettes with a counterfeit $20 \u2063bill and forcefully held him to the ground for nearly nine minutes.<\/p>\n
Floyd\u2019s sad\u2063 death was a controversial\u2064 footnote<\/a> to\u2063 America\u2019s decades-long struggle with drug addiction. But \u200cfor race-obsessed cynics<\/a> searching for\u200d a new election crisis \u2014 or a reason \u200cto\u200b burn down America\u2019s \u200dcities \u2014 \u2062it was\u200d enough to \u200cmake Floyd a Black Lives Matter icon martyred by Republican \u201cwhite supremacists.\u201d<\/p>\n
Our Ivy\u200c League\u200d universities led \u200dthe \u201cprogressive\u201d movement \u200dto defeat systemic\u200c racism with dozens of statements decrying\u2064 America\u2019s\u200c slave-owning origins and systemic injustices. Now\u200c those same universities are amazingly quiet and nuanced about\u200c Hamas\u2019 bloody murder<\/a> of 1,300 women, \u200dchildren,\u2064 and civilians.<\/p>\n
The contrast is stunning.<\/p>\n

Yale<\/h2>\n
\u201cMr. Floyd\u2019s death \u2062follows a pattern of racial injustice that has become too familiar\u200c in our country and \u200bthat amounts to a\u2064 national emergency,\u201d Yale \u200cUniversity\u200b president Peter Salovey sermonized<\/a> in an 800-word letter in May 2020 damning the\u2062 \u201cracism,\u200b nativism,\u200c and bigotry too pervasive in\u2063 society today and throughout our \u200ccountry\u2019s history.\u201d<\/p>\n
Compare that with Salovey\u2019s\u2063 letter \u2062three days after <\/em>the 2023 Hamas attacks, blandly titled<\/a> \u201cWar in the Middle \u2063East\u201d and half the length of his Floyd opus. \u200c\u201c[I] condemn \u2062the attacks by Hamas in the \u2062strongest possible terms,\u201d he wrote, but let\u2019s not forget (Salovey hastily \u200dadded) that \u200d\u201cnon-militant Palestinians have \u2064been killed\u2064 or \u2063displaced\u201d as well as\u2062 Israeli Jews.<\/p>\n
Does that include the dozens of \u2064Gazans accidentally killed by Hamas \u2063rockets<\/a> (and\u2064 falsely blamed on Israel\u2064 by \u200d congressional Democrats<\/a>)? One wonders. \u201cI call on all\u200c of us to treat \u2062each \u2064other with compassion and\u2063 understanding and to reject discrimination and intolerance in any \u200dform,\u201d Salovey\u2019s letter concludes.<\/p>\n
Contrast \u200dthat with, Yalies4Palestine, the university\u2019s intifada advocacy\u2063 group, which doesn\u2019t mince \u200bwords in\u2063 its \u201cunwavering support of the Palestinian people\u2019s right to \u2064return \u2063to \u2064their land and resist \u200bover 75 years of\u2062 colonization.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ditto Yale professor Zareena Grewal, who\u200d tweeted during the attack<\/a>:<\/p>\n

My heart\u2062 is \u200bin my \u2063throat. Prayers for Palestinians. Israeli [sic] is a murderous, genocidal settler state and Palestinians \u2063have every right to\u2064 resist\u2063 through armed struggle, solidarity. #FreePalestine<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Salovey\u2019s\u200b response? Crickets.<\/p>\n
Harvard<\/h2>\n
In May 2020, Harvard \u2064president Lawrence\u200d Bacow \u2064waxed\u200c for nearly\u2064 600 words about the shocking and \u201csenseless killing of yet another black person\u2014George\u2063 Floyd\u2014at the hands of those charged with protecting\u200d us,\u201d harkening\u2064 back to America\u2019s struggle \u201cto find common ground that might unite us\u201d\u00a0in the wake of Martin \u200cLuther King Jr.\u2019s murder in 1968.<\/p>\n
Then there\u2019s the terse, \u200b126-word press release from his successor, Claudine Gay,\u2062 on Oct. 12, \u200d2023,\u200d a full\u2063 five days\u200d after the attack:<\/p>\n

Let there be no doubt that I condemn the terrorist atrocities perpetrated by\u2063 Hamas. Such inhumanity is\u2062 abhorrent, whatever one\u2019s individual views of the origins of\u200c longstanding conflicts \u2063in the region . . . . And\u200d I appeal to\u2063 all of us in this community of learning to keep this\u2063 in mind as our conversations continue.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Small \u200bcomfort to the Jewish students threatened<\/a> by Harvard\u2019s radicalized \u2063pro-Hamas group Students for Justice in \u2064Palestine, which quickly endorsed Hamas\u2019 \u2063violence<\/a>: \u201cThe apartheid regime\u200d is the only one to blame.\u201d<\/p>\n
Even when\u200d pushed to condemn \u200cterrorism by\u200b angry students, Gay equivocated<\/a>: \u200d\u201cWe have no illusion that \u200cHarvard alone can\u200b readily bridge the widely \u2063different views of the \u2062Israeli-Palestinian conflict.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cornell<\/h2>\n
Cornell president Martha Pollack wasted no time in chiding students<\/a> \u2063that Hamas\u2019 unprovoked attack was really\u200c no \u2063different than a random act of\u2063 God (or bad weather):<\/p>\n

The loss of human life is always tragic, whether caused by human actions \u200csuch as terrorism, war\u200c or mass shootings, or by natural\u2062 disasters such as earthquakes,\u200d fires or floods\u200d . . . . Just last month, we saw\u200d atrocities in the Nagorno-Karabakh region,\u200c and this past weekend there \u200bwas a terrible earthquake in Afghanistan. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\u201cPerhaps some of \u200cour current students\u2062 will \u200bultimately have the wisdom\u200d that has so eluded\u2062 world leaders, and find a\u200c way to permanent\u200b peace, not just in the Middle East but around\u200d the world,\u201d the\u200d letter wistfully\u2063 concludes.<\/p>\n
Painfully missing: Any \u200bcondemnation of \u2063Hamas as a terrorist\u200c organization.<\/p>\n
Pollack issued\u2063 a revised statement\u2063 on Oct. 10 offering her\u200b \u201cheartfelt apologies for the omission\u201d after outraged students\u200b and faculty \u201cexpressed dismay that I failed to\u2064 say \u200dthat\u200b the atrocities committed\u2064 by Hamas this\u200b past weekend were acts of terrorism, which,\u201d\u2063 of course, \u201cI condemn in the strongest possible terms.\u201d<\/p>\n
Must\u2019ve slipped her\u200c mind \u2014 oops.<\/p>\n
Pollack\u200b had no such \u2063slip in 2020, when she \u2063blasted \u201c the scourge of racism<\/a>\u201d which caused the \u201ckilling of George Floyd,\u201d Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and \u2063others suffering \u201cin \u200bthe midst of a pandemic \u2063that is having such a disproportionate impact\u2062 on communities of color.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pollack vowed to \u201caddress it\u200d [racism] directly in our\u200d educational programs, in our research and \u2062in\u200d our engagement and related activities,\u201d so that\u200d \u201cpeople do not have to fear for their lives because \u2062of the color of their skin.\u201d<\/p>\n
No\u200c such confrontation with Islamic terrorists.<\/p>\n
Brown<\/h2>\n
Like Cornell,\u200b Brown University\u2063 president Christina Paxson excoriated<\/a> America\u2019s \u201canti-black racism and racial injustice\u201d that \u201ccontinue \u200cto cut short the lives of black people every day<\/em>\u201d:<\/p>\n

This\u200c is historical,\u2062 lasting and\u2062 persistent. Structures \u2064of power, deep-rooted histories of oppression, as well as \u2063prejudice, outright bigotry and\u200c hate, directly and personally \u200baffect the lives of millions of people in this nation every \u2064minute and every hour. Black people continue to \u200clive in fear\u2062 for \u2062themselves, their children and \u2063their\u2064 communities<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
No two ways\u200b about it \u2014 living in America is a racist nightmare for minorities, \u2064Paxson\u200b thumped, so \u201cwe \u200bmust continue to demand equity and justice for all people, inclusive of all identities.\u201d<\/p>\n
But don\u2019t expect \u200cany such commitment\u200d for Israelis or Brown\u2019s Jewish students, who got a mealy-mouthed statement<\/a> in Oct.\u2062 2023\u2063 \u201coffering\u2064 guidance and resources\u201d\u2062 and\u200b a reminder that \u201cthe issues that underpin \u2062the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are complex,\u201d so they must remain\u2063 empathetic and open-minded about \u201cdeeply held and often conflicting views about the \u200bbest ways forward.\u201d<\/p>\n
Columbia<\/h2>\n
\u201cThe horrifying ending\u200b of the\u2064 life of George Floyd \u2026 drew back the\u2062 curtains \u200don centuries\u2064 of invidious discrimination\u200c against \u2062African Americans,\u201d Columbia University president Lee Bollinger gushed<\/a> in 2020, with a veiled warning about America\u2019s coming \u201cdescent into \u200dauthoritarianism\u201d under President \u200cDonald \u2064Trump.<\/p>\n
No such horror \u200dat genocide for\u2063 his successor, Minouche Shafik, whose Oct. 2023 letter doesn\u2019t \u2064even mention Hamas or terrorism<\/a>. Notably, the Egyptian-born Shafik \u2014 who sits on the \u200bboard of the Bill & Melinda Gates\u200b Foundation \u2014 was present at the \u2063Oslo\u200b peace negotiations \u2063between Israel and Yasser Arafat\u2019s Palestine Liberation Organization<\/a> in 1994.<\/p>\n
Shafik\u2019s \u2063prevaricating wasn\u2019t good \u2063enough to Columbia\u2019s\u200c campus socialists, who blasted on Oct. 17 that Columbia\u2019s\u200c Jewish students<\/em> were a threat to\u2063 campus Muslims<\/a>. Shafik:<\/p>\n

President Shafik: Why is the pain, \u200cfear, and grief of Palestinians\u2063 not being addressed publicly?\u200d We write this to \u200dsupport students, colleagues, and \u200bfaculty \u200cwho do not feel\u200c safe on campus.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Princeton<\/h2>\n
Credit Princeton president Christopher Eisgruber\u2062 for labeling Hamas a terrorist organization in his\u2064 statement<\/a>. Deduct as many points for\u2063 equating the\u2064 murder of\u2063 thousands of Israelis \u200bwith Palestinian \u200cdeaths \u200bcaused by Israel\u2019s justified retaliation against\u200b Gaza and the Palestinians\u2019 own murderous government.<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t fret, Eisgruber writes\u2063 \u2014 Princeton \u201chas reached out to students\u00a0and other community members\u00a0from Israel and the Palestinian \u2062territories\u201d with \u200dcounseling services \u200cand \u200c\u201cthoughtful\u201d analysis \u200bof the war.<\/p>\n
No such nuance in his\u2062 2020 letter addressing the death of George \u200cFloyd: \u201cWe have witnessed yet again how this nation\u2019s long legacy of racism \u2063continues to damage and destroy the lives of black people,\u201d Eisgruber\u200d wrote<\/a>:<\/p>\n

We \u2063all have a responsibility to stand\u2062 up against racism, wherever and whenever we encounter it. \u00a0Commitments to diversity, inclusivity, and human rights \u200dare fundamental to the mission of Princeton University.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
The Mask Slips<\/h2>\n
Anyone who\u2019s followed the decline \u2062of\u200c Western universities will recognize a clear theme \u2062here: University\u200d luminaries are loathe to offend terrorist sympathizers and\u200b antisemites, yet can\u2019t spill\u200b enough ink castigating America as \u2063a racist dystopia.<\/p>\n
This is no accident; it\u2019s the \u200drotten \u200dfruit\u2062 of Marxist ideology\u2064 taking over\u2062 our national institutions decade after decade. The taint was present long \u2062before October 2023; Hamas\u2019 viciousness only caused the left\u2019s mask\u2062 to slip. <\/p>\n
It\u2019s time for \u200cparents to pull their\u2064 college students out of these \u2063radicalized universities\u2063 and \u2064stop subsidizing\u2063 woke activists\u2019 recruiting centers. Congressional Republicans have\u200d already proven they\u2019re serious\u2064 about protecting America from Islamic terrorists<\/a>. Great \u2014 now get serious about \u200cthe\u2062 ideologues\u200c festering hate in \u200bour \u2063own \u2064academies.<\/p>\n
Here a \u2063few ideas: Tax the Ivy League\u2019s multibillion-dollar endowments. Cut all government\u2064 funding to\u200d universities that\u200d promote \u200bsocialism. \u200bBan \u2064anti-American\u2063 curricula that\u200d promotes lawlessness,\u200c victimhood, \u200dand lies about our national heritage, and replace them with studies that will create\u200c good citizens.<\/p>\n
With \u201cprogressives\u201d in disarray over Israel, conservatives have a rare opportunity to abolish\u200b the left and restore our\u2062 republic to greatness. If\u2062 we don\u2019t take it, that chance\u2062 may never come again.<\/p>\n
