He stated, &#8220;But they can&#8217;t be in a position where\u200c they&#8217;re constantly at the threat of the most horrific terrorist attacks\u2063 coming from Gaza. So, something needs \u2063to be found that ensures that\u200d Hamas can&#8217;t do this again.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Israel has positioned tanks\u2064 and troops \u200bnear the Gaza border, preparing for \u200ba ground invasion to eliminate Hamas. However,\u200c their \u2063ultimate objective for Gaza remains unclear.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are different \u2064ideas out there\u200b about\u200d what could follow. These steps \u200bwill bolster\u200d regional deterrence efforts, increase force protection for U.S. forces in the region, and assist in \u2063the defense of Israel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower \u2064carrier group\u200b has been deployed\u2064 to the Central Command area of responsibility, enhancing the U.S. force posture and capabilities to respond to various \u2064contingencies.<\/p>\n<p>Austin also \u200dconfirmed the deployment of THAAD systems to increase force \u2064protection for troops \u200dand the readiness of additional forces for potential deployment.<\/p>\n<p>The United \u200cStates currently\u200b has 2,500 troops in Iraq\u2064 and 900 in neighboring Syria, supporting local forces\u2063 in the fight against ISIS.<\/p>\n<p>In Syria, Israeli missiles \u200dstruck Damascus and Aleppo\u200d international airports, causing them to shut\u200b down and resulting in the deaths of two workers.
