Kevin McCarthy<\/h2>\n<p>Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) expressed his \u2063concern over the Republican Party&#8217;s inability to secure\u200b a \u2063new\u2062 speaker, stating that it is not a good look\u2064 for \u200cthe party. In an interview on NBC News&#8217;s Meet the Press, McCarthy\u2064 described the\u2063 situation as embarrassing for both the party and\u200b the nation.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s embarrassing for the Republican Party, it&#8217;s embarrassing for \u2062the nation. Jim Jordan (R-OH) as potential speakers,\u2064 but \u200cboth failed to secure the necessary votes. \u2062As\u200b a result, \u200cthe conference is now considering seven candidates for the position.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy is throwing his support behind Majority Whip Tom\u200c Emmer (R-MN), who\u2063 officially announced his candidacy \u2062for speaker. McCarthy believes that Emmer&#8217;s experience and understanding of the job make him the\u200c ideal candidate.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;This is not\u200b a\u200d moment in time to play around with learning on the job.
