Blumenthal Claims He Would Have Avoided Ceremony Had He Known of Communist Party Ties\">recent phone interview<\/a> with The Epoch Times, \u2062Mr. D\u2019Souza revealed that even as a teenage immigrant \u200dto the United States, he was captivated\u2062 not\u2064 only by the economic opportunities \u2062and upward mobility\u200b of this country, but also by America\u2019s system \u200dof individual rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese rights are enshrined in the Bill of\u2063 Rights\u200b as\u2064 unalienable, not open for negotiation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Erosion \u200cof Civil Liberties<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThe sad thing is none of\u2062 these rights are \u200dsafe\u2063 today,\u201d\u200b he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The movie, titled &#8220;Police State,&#8221; will\u2062 be \u2064shown\u200c in hundreds of theaters across the nation for two days only,\u200c Oct.\u200c 23 and Oct. 25. Tickets are \u200cabout $22.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2><strong>Dictatorship in the Making<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cBad actors are using many different pretexts and rationales, but the\u200d trend is unmistakable. Our liberties are \u2062being \u2064choked \u2063off one \u200bby one.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>\u201cThe situation is like a herd grazing and dozing peacefully in a field,\u200d oblivious to the presence of a predator\u2063 lurking in the trees.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cPolice State is a wakeup call. It is an attempt to rouse America from \u200dits indifference and\u2064 slumber,\u201d Mr. D\u2019Souza said.<\/p>\n<p>The film\u2019s virtual premiere is set for Oct. 27.\u200d The pay-for-view event will be followed by\u2063 a question-and-answer session with\u2064 Mr. D\u2019Souza\u2063 and others.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<h2><strong>A Call for Courage<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Reaching decent, well-meaning people who may not realize what is happening is one aim of \u2063the film.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI hope it raises\u2062 this question in their minds, \u2018Do you really \u2063want things to go this way?'&#8221; said \u2062Mr. D\u2019Souza.<\/p>\n<p>He \u2062added, \u201cWe also hope \u2064the movie will\u2062 stiffen the spines of patriots whose opposition \u2064to the \u2064police \u200cstate is weak, such as Christians,\u200b and Republican party leaders who \u200care too \u200btimid and fearful \u2063that they will be attacked.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>\u201cWhen Republican politicians do nothing, the\u200d message sent to the Left is\u200c \u2018Go ahead\u200b and assault \u200cus with impunity because there will be\u2062 no consequences, no penalty \u200dor price to pay.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>&#8216;<strong>The Chinese \u200cModel&#8217;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When The Epoch Times\u2063 asked\u200c him why many American politicians, business moguls, and pundits so admire the so-called &#8220;Chinese Model,&#8221; Mr. \u2062D\u2019Souza answered,\u2064 \u201cThey are enamored with \u2062the centralized control and the high degree \u2064of efficiency in policy execution that they see in the\u200c Chinese Communist Party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe so-called \u2018Chinese Model\u2019 \u200cis the absolute opposite of the American Model. We have the separation \u200bof powers, \u200cwhich is decentralization. We have checks \u200cand balances, which means oversight and \u200baccountability.\u200b These two features \u200cof the American system were designed \u2063to protect liberty.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Chinese Model is centralized, dictatorial power.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Founders bequeathed \u2063to us an arrangement to\u2062 diffuse power. Our system \u200brelies on the rational fear \u2063that factions have for each other.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2062 results in mutual respect between\u2063 the majority \u2064and the minority. The American Model discourages \u2062both sides from engaging in tyrannical\u2062 behavior. Here, individuals have unalienable rights that cannot be voted away\u2063 by the majority. Neither can our\u2063 rights be negotiated away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u200b D\u2019Souza said in a podcast\u2062 that his team \u200bbought up all the theater seats in advance at \u200ca\u2063 discount \u2063and \u200bis reselling them online. The practice guarantees theater\u200d management a sell-out.\u2064 It is a way \u200dto\u2064 encourage managers \u2064to run\u2063 the film.<\/p>\n<p>He\u200b also told moviegoers \u200dnot to\u2064 look for \u2062the title on the\u2062 marquee because it is \u200ba\u2062 private showing. There will\u200c be\u200d no \u2064ticket sales at the door.<\/p>\n<p>Collaborating\u200b with Mr. D\u2019Souza \u2064in the\u2064 motion picture is\u200c radio \u2064talk show host and former Secret Service agent \u200dDan\u200b Bongino, and there are powerful appearances by investigative journalist Peter Schweitzer.<\/p>\n<p>People\u2062 interviewed in the film are Rep.
