Jim Jordan&#8217;s (R-Ohio) quest to become speaker was blocked as his fellow Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/house-republicans-oust-jordan-as-speaker-nominee-after-3-failed-votes-5514052\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revoked their support<\/a> for\u2062 his candidacy after a third, failed vote\u200b on the\u2064 House floor.<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Mr. McCarthy has endorsed Mr. Emmer, who\u200b has been called \u200ca &#8220;Trump hater&#8221; by Steve Bannon, the host of the &#8220;War Room&#8221; podcast and a one-time adviser \u200bto former \u2062President Donald Trump.<\/div>\n<h2>What&#8217;s \u2063Next?<\/h2>\n<p>As for as next steps,\u200d Republicans plan\u2064 to hold a candidate forum on Oct. \u200b23 at 6:30\u200c p.m. and vote on a\u200d nominee \u2063at 9 a.m. the following day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2064 need space and time \u200bfor candidates to talk to other\u200b members,\u201d Speaker Pro Tempore Patrick McHenry \u2064(R-N.C.) told \u200dreporters after the Friday\u200d meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u2063 McHenry said\u2064 that\u200d while the House is \u2063not \u2062able to conduct \u2064business on the floor, committees are still at work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur \u2062committees are \u200bworking with\u200b the administration. And the goal there is for our committees\u200d is to be ready to respond legislatively \u2062once\u2063 we have\u200d a duly \u200celected\u200b speaker of \u200dthe House,\u201d Mr. McHenry said.<\/p>\n<p>At least \u200da half-dozen Republican representatives are still weighing bids for House speaker,\u2063 with\u2064 the new hopefuls expected to declare their respective\u200b candidacies by \u200dSunday.<\/p>\n<p>In\u2064 addition to Mr. Emmer\u200d and\u2064 Mr. Johnson, Republican members \u200bthat have \u2063thrown their hats in the\u200d ring are Reps. Kevin\u2063 Hern (R-Okla.), Austin Scott (R-Ga.), Jack Bergman (R-Mich.), Pete Sessions (R-Texas), and Byron Donalds \u200b(R-Fla.).<\/p>\n<p>GOP members exploring a run include Reps. He was also voted as\u2062 a protest candidate during Mr. Jordan&#8217;s failed\u200c bids by some holdouts.<\/p>\n<p>As speaker, Mr. Donalds said that \u2062&#8221;every\u2063 voice&#8221; in the GOP conference will\u200c &#8220;have a seat at the table.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-figure\" style=\"margin-left:0;margin-right:0;max-width:1200px\">\n<figure style=\"width:640px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>U.S. Rep.
