Today is a good day for the cat. I don\u2019t have any update on the cat. We know the cat will break the Internet, but I don\u2019t have any update on its status,\u201d Psaki playful responded.<\/p>\n<p>WATCH:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"10.29197080292\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Reporter: &#8220;We were promised a White House cat, what happened to that?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Psaki: &#8220;Where is the cat? We know the cat will break the internet.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6WYlhXrLwi\">pic.twitter.com\/6WYlhXrLwi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 USA TODAY (@USATODAY) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USATODAY\/status\/1369368524557348864?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 9, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The question, notably soft, highlights the media\u2019s treatment of the Biden administration, particularly when compared to their treatment of the Trump administration and other former Republican administrations.<\/p>\n<p>Former Trump-era White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany recently highlighted such differences.&nbsp;\u201cIt\u2019s different in a big way,\u201d she outlined last week on Fox News\u2019 \u201cThe Faulkner Focus.\u201d&nbsp;\u201cI\u2019ll never forget watching one of the early press briefing and [Psaki] was asked about the Antifa riots and I believe said she hadn\u2019t spoken to the president about that and they let her move on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhereas, if I would have been asked that about violence on the other side of the aisle, that wouldn\u2019t have been an answer that flew. Nor should it have. And so I think just the standards are different,\u201d McEnany explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA Democrat woman standing at that podium would never have had a Playboy reporter in the back of the room shouting at her as she left and nor should a Democrat woman ever have to face that and nor should a Republican woman,\u201d the former press secretary added.&nbsp;\u201cThere is a modicum of respect that I think reporters and those at the podium and in a political role people should have for one another.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dana Perino, who served under President George W. Bush as White House press secretary, commented that conservative women know they\u2019re \u201cnot gonna get the glowing profiles \u2014 you just get your s*** done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Psaki, of course, takes on straight questions from the press, too, but seems to be awarded leeway from the media that is not afforded to Republican administrations.&nbsp;For example, Psaki has frequently told reporters she\u2019ll \u201ccircle back\u201d when she can\u2019t answer a question.<\/p>\n<p>McEnany, who was once <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/watch-kayleigh-mcenany-heckled-during-presser-tells-badgering-reporters-i-dont-call-on-activists\">heckled<\/a> by a reporter during a briefing, emphasized on Fox News airwaves that she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/i-always-knew-where-my-boss-stood-mcenany-comments-on-psaki-circling-back-to-reporters\">didn\u2019t have the luxury<\/a> of constantly telling reporters she\u2019d \u201ccircle back,\u201d instead putting in hours of research before briefings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a very hard job. But that being said, we took great pains in our administration to do hours and hours and hours of research beforehand, days sometimes, calling [former Secretary of Health and Human Services)] Secretary [Alex] Azar sometimes, calling [former Department of Justice spokesperson] Kerri Kupec over at the Justice Department to get answers,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/i-always-knew-where-my-boss-stood-mcenany-comments-on-psaki-circling-back-to-reporters\">explained<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd the great thing about being in the Trump White House was I always knew where my boss stood,\u201d McEnany continued. \u201cUnlike other press secretaries that maybe didn\u2019t have walk-in privileges to the Oval, I could walk in at any time. I&nbsp;always knew where he stood. Before every press conference, I would go in with a list of items that I thought the press would ask and go through one by one.
