Version: 4.0.47--><h2>Football Fans React as No. 2\u2062 Michigan Wolverines Football Team Faces \u200dNCAA Investigation\u200b for Possible Cheating<\/h2>\n<p>Ask \u2063any football fan whose team has enjoyed sustained \u200dsuccess \u200dand he will invariably tell you that the most exhausting thing\u200c about it is the intense microscope the\u200b team is suddenly placed under.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>From Ray Lewis\u2019 Miami Hurricanes\u2063 to \u2064Reggie Bush\u2019s\u2062 USC\u200c Trojans, to Tom Brady\u2019s New England Patriots and \u200dthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/no-2-michigan-wolverines-football-team-being-investigated-for-possible-cheating-by-ncaa\/\" title=\"NCAA probes potential cheating by Michigan Wolverines Football.\">current \u2062team \u200cdu jour<\/a>, \u2063Patrick Mahomes\u2019 Kansas City Chiefs, fans of those teams\u200c can tell\u2062 you that opposing fans \u200band critics put every little\u2062 thing they do or advantage they get \u2014 perceived or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nfl-fans-stunned-string-referee-blunders-benefited-taylor-swifts-new-favorite-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">otherwise<\/a> \u2014 under a searing spotlight.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The University\u200d of Michigan Wolverines have apparently \u2064been enjoying too much \u200csuccess lately and\u200b are now being \u2063accused of a\u200c positively Patriots-esque scandal.<\/p>\n<p>According \u2063to a Thursday report from <a href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/sources-ncaa-investigating-michigan-football-for-alleged-rule-violations-related-to-sign-stealing-161714176.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yahoo Sports<\/a>, the No.\u2062 2 ranked college football \u200bteam in the country is under \u200bNCAA investigation for alleged violations \u2063regarding sign-stealing.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2063 team is\u200c accused of sending people to the games \u2064of future opponents to scout the signs that\u2064 they use \u200dto\u200d call plays \u200con both \u200csides\u2064 of \u200cthe ball.<\/p>\n<p>According \u2063to Yahoo, the sign-stealing \u200chas allegedly\u2064 extended so far \u200bas to include\u2063 teams that \u2062aren\u2019t even \u2063on Michigan\u2019s\u2062 schedule but that \u2064it could end up facing in \u200cthe playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Ten Conference, which includes Michigan, issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/bigten.org\/news\/2023\/10\/19\/general-big-ten-conference-statement.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> on\u2064 Thursday acknowledging the allegations and pending investigation.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cLate Wednesday afternoon, the Big Ten Conference\u2062 and University of Michigan \u2063were notified by the NCAA that the NCAA was investigating allegations of sign stealing by the University\u2064 of\u200c Michigan football program,\u201d the \u2062statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Big Ten Conference has notified\u200b \u2026 future opponents. The Big Ten Conference considers the integrity of competition to be of utmost importance and will continue to monitor the investigation. The Conference will have no further comment at \u2063this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, it is worth noting that sign-stealing is not illegal in and of itself.<\/p>\n<p>As \u2063Patriots fans will assure you, every team does it.<\/p>\n<p>What is illegal, \u200bas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/college\/michigan\/football\/michigan-football-wolverines-jim-harbaugh-issues-statement-sign-stealing-ncaa-allegations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sports Illustrated<\/a> \u200cpointed out, is sending scouts to watch slated opponents in person (it\u2019s also illegal to use electronic devices to communicate stolen signs, but it\u200d does not appear Michigan \u2062is being accused of that).<\/p>\n<p>Scouting opponents in person \u200dwasn\u2019t even \u200dillegal until 1994 \u2014 so \u200bMichigan certainly wouldn\u2019t \u2064be \u2062the first team to send people to games ahead of time.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Michigan head coach\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/coach-jim-harbaugh-delivers-bold-speech-pro-life-event-unborn-amazing-gifts-god\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jim Harbaugh<\/a> \u200b has denied any \u200cwrongdoing and\u2063 agreed to fully cooperate with the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to make it\u200d clear that I, and my staff, will\u200c fully cooperate with the \u2062investigation into this matter,\u201d Harbaugh \u2064said in a statement, according to Sports Illustrated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not have any knowledge or information regarding the University of Michigan football program\u2063 illegally stealing\u200c signals, nor \u2062have I directed any staff member\u200d or others to participate in an off-campus scouting assignment. I have no awareness of anyone on our staff having done that or having\u2063 directed that action.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI \u2063do not condone or\u200c tolerate \u2064anyone doing anything illegal or against NCAA rules.
