In the present\u200c state of the world,\u2063 that interest should only intensify.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Vista Outdoor of Anoka, Minnesota,\u2064 announced\u2064 in \u200ba <a href=\"https:\/\/news.vistaoutdoor.com\/newsroom\/press-releases\/press-release-details\/2023\/Vista-Outdoor-Enters-into-Definitive-Agreement-to-Sell-Sporting-Products-Business-to-Czechoslovak-Group-for-1.91-Billion\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a> that it had sold its Sporting Products business to the Czechoslovak\u2062 Group. Based in Prague, \u200cthe capital of the\u200d Czech Republic, CSG \u200doperates as \u201ca <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/foreign-it-company-gobbles-up-top-us-ammunition-manufacturers-remington-federal-cci-and-others-sold-off\/\" title=\"Foreign IT company acquires major US ammunition manufacturers Remington, Federal, CCI, and more.\">leading industrial technology holding company<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/czechoslovak-group-enters-definitive-agreement-182100031.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yahoo\u2063 Finance<\/a> reported that \u2064CSG\u2019s newly\u2062 acquired\u2064 business includes major U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/gun-grab-deep-blue-state-approves-massive-additional-firearms-ammo-tax\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ammunition<\/a> manufacturers Remington, Federal, CCI, \u2063Hevi-Shot and Speer.<\/p>\n<p>It described CSG\u2019s move as \u201cthe largest acquisition\u2062 in the history of the Czech defense industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/michal-strnad\/?sh=1f7362636401\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michal Strnad<\/a>, CSG\u2019s 30-year-old billionaire \u2063owner and CEO, expressed a determination \u200dto grow the Sporting Products business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to \u2063building on \u200cthe company\u2019s success in delivering innovative, quality \u2062products and are confident in the long-term value we can create \u2062together,\u201d\u200b Strnad\u2064 said in a statement \u200cin the Vista Outdoor release. He added a commitment \u201cto \u200bexpanding\u2063 their legacy of U.S. manufacturing and providing resources\u200b to accelerate their growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Sporting Products CEO Jason Vanderbrink embraced the CSG \u200cacquisition and echoed the commitment to U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-state-attorney-general-sues-gun-accessory-manufacturer-allegedly-aiding-mass-shooter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">manufacturing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe company is fully committed to our \u2062iconic American brands and expanding \u200cour legacy of U.S. manufacturing, support for military \u2063and law \u200cenforcement customers, \u2063and investments\u200b in conservation and\u2064 our hunting and \u2064shooting\u2064 heritage,\u201d Vanderbrink said. \u201cWe are excited \u200dto work closely with the CSG team as we enter \u200cthis\u2064 next phase\u200b and position our brands for long-term success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thus, as one might expect, the Czech billionaire seemed most interested in making money by \u200ccreating \u201clong-term value.\u201d No doubt Vanderbrink and other Sporting Products officials \u2062appreciated\u2063 additional \u201cresources\u201d in the form\u200c of capital infusion.<\/p>\n<p>For ordinary Americans, however, transactions of this\u2063 nature produce at\u2064 least some degree of anxiety.<\/p>\n<p>The National Rifle\u200b Association\u2019s\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shootingillustrated.com\/content\/czechoslovak-group-acquiring-federal-cci-hevi-shot-remington-ammo-and-speer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shooting Illustrated<\/a>, for instance, noted that the Sporting Products \u2063business includes \u201csome of the industry\u2019s foremost ammunition manufacturers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, allowing those manufacturers \u200cto become foreign-owned might not strike the average American \u200bas the most \u200csensible choice.<\/p>\n<p>Of course,\u2063 such reservations\u200b have \u2064nothing to\u2063 do with Strnad personally\u200c and certainly\u2062 not with the Czech Republic \u2063in particular. \u2063Having been overrun by tyrants in the mid-20th century \u2014 first the Nazis and then the\u2062 Communists \u2014 the Czech people have\u200b every reason to appreciate the need \u2062for\u200d an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/federal-judge-halts-states-new-assault-weapon-ban-cites-likely-second-amendment-violation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">armed \u2063citizenry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, \u200dAmerican manufacturers have no\u200b built-in guarantee of favorable treatment \u2014 let alone principled patriotism \u2014 from a U.S.-owned \u201cholding company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, anxieties remain. After all, how many of their own resources do Americans still \u2064control?<\/p>\n<p>Last week, for instance, \u2063Republican Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders \u200bof\u200d Arkansas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/sarah-huckabee-sanders-sends-american-enemy-packing-eviction-notice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> \u2064 that she would evict a Chinese state-owned company that held farmland\u200d in her state.<\/p>\n<p>Communist China, of\u200b course, poses threats that\u200d the \u200cCzech Republic does not. But the \u2062principle remains. Ultimate control of U.S. \u2064resources must belong only to those who have Americans\u2019 interests foremost in mind.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, foreign ownership\u200d of U.S. ammunition manufacturing\u200d reminds\u2063 us of some jarring realities.<\/p>\n<p>For instance,\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/free-speech-and-anti-semitism-at-the-university-of-pennsylvania\/\" title=\"Pennsylvania University: Free Speech vs. Anti-Semitism\">free speech\u200d means<\/a>\u2063 nothing if Americans \u200bhave\u200b no\u2063 forum\u2062 in which\u200d to speak freely. With this in mind,\u200c imagine the present \u200bstate \u200cof \u200cthe First \u200cAmendment had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/elon-musk-puts-money-mouth-posts-live-video-us-southern-border-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elon Musk<\/a> not purchased Twitter. To what extent do our most fundamental freedoms depend on the actions of a single billionaire?<\/p>\n<p>The analogy \u2062is imperfect, of course, but the question it raises is similar.\u2064 Can we\u200c allow the practical exercise of our Second Amendment rights to depend on a Czech billionaire?<\/p>\n<p>American companies have no reason to shun friendly \u200dforeign investors.
