You \u2064also \u2062agree \u200bto our \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/about\/privacy-policy\/\">Privacy Policy<\/a> and\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/about\/terms-service\/\">Terms of Use<\/a>.\n\t<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Regardless, there\u2019s always going to be \u200bsome natural excitement when something\u200d new debuts on the airwaves.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2064 natural excitement, if\u2063 it \u2063existed at all, did not\u2062 amount to much in terms of ratings for the two CNN \u2062shows.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u200d a Fox news release obtained by The Western Journal, both shows \u201ctanked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>CNN NewsNight<\/em> placed 17th out of the top 25 most-watched programs and\u2064 <em>Laura Coates Live<\/em> placed 25th with the\u200d younger viewers,\u201d the\u2062 release said.<\/p>\n<p>In a vacuum, those rankings \u2063are obviously\u2062 not great.\u2063 But\u200d they\u2019re even worse when juxtaposed with \u200dthe late-night success of Fox News \u200b\u2014 particularly \u2062that of Fox \u200bstar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/gutfeld-snaps-five-co-host-suggests-trump-deserves-charges-brought\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greg \u200cGutfeld<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt 10 PM\/ET, [Fox News Channel\u2019s] <em>Gutfeld!<\/em> notched 1,920,000 viewers and 270,000 [in the age 25 to 54 demographic,] more than quadrupling <em>CNN \u2064Newsnight<\/em>,\u201d which\u200b only mustered 440,000 \u2063and 177,000 in those categories, the release noted.<\/p>\n<p>Then, at 11 p.m. Eastern, \u201cFOX News\u2062 @ Night\u201d with Trace\u2064 Gallagher scored 1,095,000 viewers\u2063 and 201,000 in the 25-54 demo, \u201cnearly \u200btripling <em>Laura \u2063Coates Live<\/em>,\u201d which pulled\u2062 in 387,000 \u2062and\u2063 146,000, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>For CNN, it is obviously not great news that its\u200d two\u2063 shiny new programs \u2063were \u2063so thoroughly blown out\u200b of the\u200d water.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, CNN isn\u2019t exactly \u200bafraid \u200bof risky ventures \u2014 some of which have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnn-officially-done-employees-receive-crushing-pink-slips-morning-call\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">failed<\/a> in spectacular fashion. \u2064There is a non-zero chance that CNN expected these\u200d underwhelming numbers.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless, this can\u2019t be what the network \u200dhoped for.<\/p>\n<p>For Fox?
