Jim Jordan Gains Support \u200din Bid for House Speaker<\/h2>\n<p>Despite losing\u2064 some Republican votes, Rep. Jim \u200bJordan \u200b(R-OH) managed to gain \u200dthe support of two GOP lawmakers \u200bwho initially voted against him.\u200b Reps. Doug LaMalfa \u200c(R-CA) and Victoria Spartz \u200d(R-IN) both switched \u200btheir votes during \u2063the second round of\u2062 voting on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<h3>LaMalfa&#8217;s Change of Heart<\/h3>\n<p>It \u200bwas expected that \u2063Rep. LaMalfa would change his vote. In a statement, he\u200d explained that his decision was driven by \u2064his belief that recent events in Washington, D.C. were unjust. He expressed disappointment\u2064 in the removal of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and emphasized that his vote \u2064for McCarthy did not reflect any negative opinion \u2064of Jordan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I spoke with Jim \u200dafter the first vote to confirm my support going forward, \u2062and he was happy and understood,&#8221; LaMalfa stated. &#8220;I \u200dwill look\u200d forward to casting a vote for him \u200bon\u2064 the second ballot.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Surprising Flip by \u2062Spartz<\/h3>\n<p>On the other hand, Rep. Spartz&#8217;s change of vote came\u2062 as a surprise. Initially, she had planned to\u200b abstain or propose another \u200dcandidate until Jordan resolved issues with fellow \u200bmembers.
