But that didn&#8217;t stop\u200c her from hoping for a different outcome.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My heart was pounding as I sat there, trying to be strong for him,&#8221; said Ms. McAbee, referring\u200b to her husband, Ronald Colton McAbee. Bodycam footage showed Mr. McAbee falling on top \u2062of the officer after both were pulled down by a rioter.<\/p>\n<h2>&#8216;Trying to Help You&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>According to \u200bthe video, Mr. McAbee \u200dasked Officer \u200bWayte if he was ready \u2063to which the officer\u2063 replied, &#8220;Let go \u2062of me, man.&#8221; Mr.\u200b McAbee responded, &#8220;I&#8217;m trying to help you.&#8221; Officer Wayte then asked Mr. McAbee \u2063to help him up.<\/p>\n<p>The video also showed\u200b Mr. McAbee trying to shield Officer Wayte from the rioters.<\/p>\n<p>During the trial, the prosecution initially argued that \u2064Mr. McAbee was trying to help Officer Wayte.
