He was torn: On the one hand, he saw the necessity of pushing Saddam out of the oil-rich state, maintaining the impression of American strength in the region. On the other hand, he wanted to\u200d avoid conflict.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Three\u200c weeks \u200dafter the \u200dinvasion, Bush still had \u200bnot made a decision. That\u2019s when he famously accepted a phone call from British Prime Minister Margaret \u2062Thatcher.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cRemember, George,\u201d she said, \u201cthis is no \u200ctime\u2063 to go\u2062 wobbly.\u201d Bush \u2064didn\u2019t go\u200c wobbly. The United States expelled Saddam from Kuwait. That was the last outright \u200dmilitary victory in American history.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The Consequences of Appeasement<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Today,\u2064 the\u2063 United States faces down threats\u200c on \u2064all sides, the wages of\u200c appeasement of America\u2019s most \u200cvicious\u2063 enemies. From cutting awful deals with \u200cIran\u2062 to appeasing Russian aggression in Crimea, from bowing before Chinese expansionism to \u200cabandoning \u200cAfghanistan to the Taliban to sending overt American aid to Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, America\u2019s foreign policy, particularly under Barack \u2062Obama and Joe Biden, has bred \u200baggressiveness among our enemies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That aggressiveness culminated last week in the worst single terror attack on the West since 9\/11, in \u200cthe form of a murderous rampage through\u200b southern\u200c Israel that left 1,300 people dead and 200\u2062 kidnapped.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">America\u2019s enemies are betting on us \u2062going wobbly. They are betting on a morally blind media \u2064to press\u2063 Israel to stop \u2062her \u2063offensive into the \u200bGaza Strip in order to depose the evil \u2063terrorist group Hamas. They\u200b are betting on an activated Left to intervene to \u2062press Joe Biden to\u200d pressure Israel to stop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If that\u200c bet pays off, the West will be far\u2064 less safe.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The\u2063 Potential \u200cConsequences of Inaction<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here\u2019s why.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Let\u2019s assume Israel leaves Hamas \u2064in\u2063 place \u200bon the Gaza Strip \u2014 which would be the end result of a cease-fire at this point. Hamas will quickly consolidate its support \u200camong Palestinian Arabs\u200d in the\u2064 West\u2064 Bank, creating \u200canother massive terror\u2062 threat for Israel\u2064 from its East.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That terror\u200c threat is already materializing: Palestinian terrorists have already attempted to \u2064infiltrate multiple\u200c areas of Judea and Samaria. On Friday\u200d night, mosques around Israel played \u2062a\u2062 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">muezzin<\/span><\/i> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">call expressing solidarity\u200d with Hamas and calling\u200b for Palestinians\u2062 to join the violence. That will only grow worse if Hamas survives.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/episode\/ep-1830-america-can-prevent-world-war-iii-member-exclusive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WATCH: The Ben Shapiro Show<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Meanwhile, Hezbollah in the North, an Iranian proxy, will\u2064 know \u2064Israel is surrounded on\u200b all sides and may \u200cchoose to launch a massive offensive against Israel\u2062 that will end with \u200dtens of thousands of Jews dead and Israel itself existentially endangered. Again, that possibility is quite real: Israel is\u2062 apparently holding off on its ground\u2064 offensive in order to retain enough troops in the North to prevent a\u2063 massive Hezbollah\u2062 move.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If Hezbollah \u2064jumps in, Israel\u200c will respond\u200b with everything in\u2063 its arsenal, as it would have\u200b to; Iran, with\u2062 Russian and Chinese backing, could enter the conflict. At that\u200c point, \u200cnuclear \u200dconflict \u2063would \u200bcertainly not be off\u2064 the \u200ctable. Israel \u200bwill not allow\u200d a second Holocaust to take place without using everything in its \u2064arsenal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In fact, an Iranian attack on Israel could turn into a next-stage Sunni-Shia war, thanks to Iran\u2019s increased regional power; \u200bat some \u200cpoint in this\u200d chain of events, \u2062America would be dragged directly into such a war. Meanwhile, the world\u2019s oil supply would \u2064be radically decreased, \u200ccrashing the global economy.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Avoiding Catastrophe<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Or, America can stand tall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here is \u200dAmerica\u2019s role. It \u200dis a simple one, and does not require American use of force. It does not require American soldiers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">First, America\u200b must\u200c provide\u2063 Israel\u2063 the material and moral \u2064support to destroy Hamas. Israel will shed extraordinary levels of blood of its own citizens in \u2064order \u200bto protect civilians in \u200dGaza and to kill terrorists, but\u200b Israel will require rearmament. \u2062America should do so. An Israel wounded by Hamas is an \u2063invitation to broader \u200dregional and\u2062 possibly global conflict.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Second, America ought to\u200d use our diplomatic might to\u2064 push to alleviate the situation \u200d\u2014 on the Arab side. We \u2063ought\u2062 to push Egypt to open its border to refugees to minimize civilian \u2064casualties\u2064 and push Turkey to accept refugees. An ounce \u200dof prevention will be worth kilotons of cure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All of this is\u200c doable without expending significant amounts of \u2062American treasure or any American blood.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But that can <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">only<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  happen if the\u200c Biden administration \u200cdoesn\u2019t go wobbly \u2014 if it\u200b doesn\u2019t start parroting the \u200cdangerous moral equivalence of the media \u2064or the absurd perversities of \u2064international pseudo-humanitarian organizations that make no demands of the\u200b terrorist Hamas but make many demands on Israel. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">America can flex her muscles without using American force. In fact, we should. A world\u2064 without America is \u200da dark and chaotic place \u2014 \u200dand a more dangerous place \u200dfor America.
