In his motion, Smith baselessly claimed\u2064 Trump\u2019s right to speak freely about\u2062 the\u2064 government\u2019s crusade to throw him\u2062 in prison \u2063\u201cthreatens to undermine the integrity of these proceedings\u201d and defended the request as\u200d \u201cmodest\u201d and \u201cpermissible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While it\u2019s not surprising Chutkan\u2064 greenlit Smith\u2019s motion given her\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/25\/judge-presiding-over-trumps-jan-6-trial-has-track-record-of-politically-charged-j6-rulings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">history<\/a> of \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/conservatives-say-biden-supreme-court-pick-will-be-a-radical-left-activist\/\" title=\"Conservatives Say Biden Supreme Court Pick Will Be a Radical-Left Activist\">left-wing judicial activism<\/a>, Monday\u2019s developments shine a light on the much bigger issue of\u2062 judges deciding \u2062what political speech is permissible for candidates to use on the \u200dcampaign trail.<\/p>\n<p>Should Trump become the 2024 GOP \u2064presidential nominee, his ability to call out the DOJ\u2019s blatant corruption during the election would be severely curtailed. Chutkan\u2019s order allowing Trump to criticize the DOJ while barring him from lamenting Smith \u200band his team is a joke because Smith\u2019s investigation is a part of the Biden administration\u2019s greater attempt \u200dto throw their top political opponent in prison during the middle of an election.<\/p>\n<p>How is Trump supposed to criticize Biden and the\u200c DOJ\u2019s corruption and not Smith when, in actuality, \u2063they\u2019re all tied to the same goal?<\/p>\n<p>While\u2062 judicial activism is nothing new for leftist judges, Chutkan\u2019s order opens the floodgates for the judicial system to restrict a political candidate\u2019s constitutional\u200d right to speak freely during an election. It is clear that Democrats are using the \u200cpower\u200c of the federal government to\u2064 silence\u2062 their opposition\u2062 and manipulate\u200b the political landscape in their favor.<\/p>\n<p>This\u2062 is not an isolated incident. The weaponization of the federal government by\u200d Democrats has been a recurring theme throughout \u2062the Trump presidency and continues to be \u200da concern as we move forward. From baseless impeachment proceedings to investigations and subpoenas, Democrats have consistently used \u2062their positions of power to target and attack \u200cTrump and his supporters.<\/p>\n<p>The court-mandated gag\u2064 order on Trump is just another example of this ongoing pattern. By restricting Trump&#8217;s ability \u2064to speak \u200dabout\u2063 the actions and integrity of the Biden administration and the DOJ, Democrats are effectively silencing him and preventing him from offering any meaningful critique \u2063or opposition.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the justification for this gag order is flimsy at best. Smith&#8217;s claim that Trump&#8217;s right to free speech threatens the integrity of the proceedings is unfounded and reflects a clear bias against the former president. It is a blatant \u200dattempt to manipulate \u200bthe legal system and prevent Trump from exercising his fundamental rights.<\/p>\n<p>This case highlights the importance of an independent and impartial judiciary. Judges should interpret and apply the law objectively, without allowing their \u2062personal biases\u200b and political affiliations \u200dto influence their decisions. The ability for candidates to speak freely about \u200dtheir opponents, \u2063the government, and the issues that matter to them is essential for a healthy and\u2063 vibrant democracy.<\/p>\n<p>If we \u2063allow political \u2062opponents to dictate what can and cannot be said during political campaigns, we undermine the very foundations of our democratic system.
