Jim Jordan Faces Uphill Battle\u200d in Bid for House Speaker<\/h2>\n<p>Rep.\u2062 Jim \u200bJordan (R-OH) has emerged as the second House Republican nominee for the position of House \u2063speaker, but his path to victory \u200dis far from easy.<\/p>\n<p>After Rep.\u200d Steve Scalise (R-LA) withdrew from the\u2063 race, Jordan was selected as\u2064 the new nominee by\u200b the conference. \u200cIn a\u2063 secret ballot, the House voted 124-81 to make Jordan the speaker-designee, followed by another vote to gauge his support on the House\u200b floor, which \u200byielded a smaller margin \u200bof\u200c Jordan opponents at 152-55.<\/p>\n<h3>Mike Johnson Prepares for Speakership Bid if Jordan Fails to Secure\u200b Majority<\/h3>\n<p>The re-vote revealed that \u200dmany \u2063Republicans are\u2064 still hesitant to rally behind the chairman \u200bof the\u2063 House Judiciary Committee. Jordan&#8217;s supporters believe he can close the margin and gain more support over the weekend, but \u2063he still has a long\u200c way to go \u200cto secure the\u2063 217\u200b votes needed to win the job.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think he has \u2062a very, very <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/double-digit-inflation-looms-as-first-headache-for-italys-meloni\/\" title=\"Double digit inflation looms as first headache for Italy\u2019s Meloni\">difficult task ahead<\/a> of\u2064 him,&#8221; said Rep. Mario Diaz Balart (R-FL), who voted against Jordan and indicated\u2062 he \u2064will likely \u2063not support him\u2063 on the floor. &#8220;That&#8217;s a really\u200b big\u2064 mountain.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Some Republicans speculate that \u2063Jordan plans to use a floor vote to pressure the 55 hold-outs who refused to back him.<\/p>\n<p>Given \u200bthe\u2063 slim majority Republicans\u200c hold and \u200dthe Democrats&#8217;\u2064 promise not \u2062to help elect a new \u2062speaker, Jordan can only afford to have five\u2064 members defect. However, he could\u200d use \u200cthe public pressure \u2062of a\u200b floor \u2064vote\u200c to persuade\u2064 stray members to join his side.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What is going to happen is, they are \u200bgoing to\u200d vote\u2062 on the floor, and \u2062then they hear from \u2063the\u2063 grassroots,&#8221; said \u200cRep. Tim Burchett (R-TN).<\/p>\n<p>While Jordan does not need \u2062all 217 confirmed \u2064votes to enter the House\u200b floor as \u200bthe \u200dRepublican nominee, Rep. \u2064Kat\u200c Cammack \u200d(R-FL) stated that \u200bJordan \u2064wants \u200ca majority of\u2064 support before the full vote.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Jordan has stated he wants to\u2062 make sure that he\u2062 has the \u2062votes going \u200dinto the House chamber,&#8221; Cammack said. &#8220;So that being said, he wants the\u2062 weekend to work that and to get those votes up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cammack added\u200c that Jordan will\u2064 need to &#8220;work the phones and talk to people&#8221; to\u200b gather support from any holdouts.<\/p>\n<p>Other Republicans \u2063believe that once the nominee enters the floor for\u2063 the full \u200cHouse vote, the\u200c conference will \u200blikely fall in line as pressure\u200c mounts \u200dto\u200d elect Jordan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s different when you get on the House floor,&#8221; said Rep. Ralph Norman\u200d (R-SC). &#8220;It&#8217;s time to \u2064elect Jim Jordan speaker.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Norman,\u200c an original supporter of Jordan, said, &#8220;Their phones are gonna be lit up with their constituents,&#8221; \u2064urging Jordan&#8217;s speakership.<\/p>\n<p>Cammack, sharing\u2063 a\u200b similar outlook,\u2063 said constituents from across the nation will be getting\u200d involved in the speaker race by calling to show \u200dtheir support\u200c for the Ohio\u2063 congressman this\u200c weekend.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think certainly\u200b we are going to have a situation where people from around the\u200d country are\u2063 getting involved,&#8221; Cammack said. &#8220;You&#8217;re going \u2063to have \u200dpeople\u2063 calling their members of Congress, encouraging \u2063them to support\u200b Jim Jordan because,\u200b at the end of the \u2063day,\u2064 Jim \u2062Jordan is the grassroots candidate. \u200dHe is someone \u200dwho really resonates \u2063with\u200d the base of the \u200cRepublican \u2064Party.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\">CLICK HERE TO READ\u200c MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> How does Jim Jordan plan to address the concerns and convince Democrats that he can \u2064work towards bipartisan solutions?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Not \u2062vote for him.\u200b This \u200bmeans he\u2063 needs to convince at least 50 of the hold-outs to change \u2064their minds and \u2063support him.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan&#8217;s bid for the speakership has \u2062been met with resistance not only from \u2063within his own \u200bparty, but also\u2062 from Democrats. Many Democrats view Jordan as a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump and\u200d his divisive policies. They\u2063 fear\u2062 that if \u200cJordan becomes speaker,\u200b he will prioritize a \u2064conservative agenda that does not align with their own priorities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Jim Jordan is not someone who can \u200dbring both \u2062sides together and work towards bipartisan solutions,&#8221; said Rep. Some Republicans worry that Jordan&#8217;s conservative stance \u2062on issues\u2063 such as immigration and \u200bhealthcare will \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/scalise-faces-uphill-battle-convincing-house-republicans-to-support-his-bid-for-speaker\/\" title=\"Scalise's challenge: Persuading House GOP to back his Speaker bid.\">alienate moderate members<\/a> of the party and make it difficult for them to pass legislation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If Jordan \u2063is elected\u200c speaker, it will be\u2062 difficult for us to get anything done,&#8221; said Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), a moderate Republican. &#8220;We need a leader who can bring the\u2063 party together and work\u2062 towards our common goals.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite these challenges, Jordan \u2063remains optimistic about his chances of becoming\u200d speaker. He has \u2062been actively reaching out to \u200cmembers of both \u2063parties, hoping to gain their support.
