Miles Coleman, associate editor of the\u200d Crystal Ball newsletter at the University \u2063of Virginia Center for\u200d Politics, the party that wins the \u2063Kentucky\u2064 governorship has \u2062historically gone on to win the presidential\u200d election the following year.<\/p>\n<h3>Beshear&#8217;s Popularity Persists<\/h3>\n<p>Despite Kentucky being a deep red \u200dstate, Beshear \u200bremains popular, as indicated by various polls.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After narrowly winning in 2019 \u200cagainst former Gov. Matt \u200cBevin, Beshear\u200b is seeking a second term. An October 2022 Morning Consult poll showed him as one of the \u2062top 10 most popular governors in\u200d the United \u200dStates, with a 59 \u2063percent approval rating.<\/p>\n<p>An Emerson College \u2063poll released last week also gave Beshear\u200c a\u2062 16-point lead over Cameron, while a conservative group&#8217;s poll showed a\u2064 6-point lead for Beshear.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the general election \u2062season,\u2064 Beshear&#8217;s campaign has significantly \u2064outspent Cameron&#8217;s. In the\u200c first week of October alone, $1.8 million was\u2063 spent\u2064 on ads supporting\u200d Beshear,\u200c compared to\u2062 around $600,000 for Cameron.<\/p>\n<p>As \u2064of Oct. 11, Cameron \u2062had $968,000 cash on hand, while Beshear had $1.9 million.<\/p>\n<p>During \u2062the debate, Beshear highlighted the positive momentum Kentucky\u2062 has \u200cexperienced during his term, including record economic development investments, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sen-tim-scott-launches-2022-senate-reelection-bid\/\" title=\"Sen. Tim Scott Launches 2022 Senate Reelection Bid\">low unemployment rates<\/a>, and the recovery of\u200d a region devastated by a tornado.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are on an economic win \u2064streak like never before, with\u2064 the opportunity\u200c to create more opportunities for \u200bfuture generations,&#8221;\u2063 Beshear proudly stated.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>However, Cameron painted a different picture of Kentucky, emphasizing the negative \u2063impact of COVID-19 restrictions on businesses, inflation, and school closures leading to learning loss.<\/p>\n<h3>&#8216;A Race \u2063About\u200b Crazy Versus Normal&#8217;<\/h3>\n<p>Cameron characterized the race as a\u2064 battle between &#8220;crazy&#8221; and &#8220;normal,&#8221; criticizing Beshear for\u2063 endorsing Joe \u2062Biden for president.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Earlier this year, Beshear \u200bsigned\u200d a bill that marked a \u2062step towards phasing out individual \u200cincome \u200ctax. Cameron proudly \u200cdeclared, &#8220;Here in Kentucky, we need to remove Andy Beshear, the \u200bbiggest enabler of Joe Biden.&#8221; This statement clearly showcased Cameron&#8217;s goal of associating Beshear with policies and \u200bactions that may not align with the conservative values of the state.<\/p>\n<p>Beshear, on\u2063 the other hand, responded sarcastically to Cameron&#8217;s repeated mentions of President Biden&#8217;s name.
