With Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards term-limited, there&#8217;s a chance\u200b that a Republican\u2062 could take \u2064his place.<\/p>\n<p>One of the leading contenders is Republican State\u200b Attorney General Jeff Landry, who is hoping to secure more than 50% of the vote and avoid a run-off election in November. Landry has been actively campaigning, recently telling voters, &#8220;How would y&#8217;all like to finish this \u200bin\u200c October?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to the Real Clear Politics average of three polls, Landry is currently in the \u200blead with\u200d 38.7% support.
