This raises \u200bconcerns about the identity \u200dand goals of \u2064the organizations applying for taxpayer funds to support the ACC program.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>In September, the White House mentioned a\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/public-inspection.federalregister.gov\/2023-17372.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proposed rulemaking<\/a> \u2063that, if finalized, could provide a \u2062streamlined pathway for ACC participants to \u2063enter federal\u2064 service.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Given these concerns, the lawmakers \u200dhave given\u200b AmeriCorps until October 27 to provide \u2062the\u200c requested\u2062 documents and\u200c information regarding\u200c the specific jobs, selection process, and purposes of the ACC.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>This letter from the \u200dcongressmen \u2063follows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/republicans-denounce-bidens-use-of-executive-action-to-launch-climate-corps-5495350\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criticism<\/a> from other Republicans \u200bon the Hill, \u200bwho argue that the president lacks \u2064the authority to\u2062 create\u200d the \u200bACC without congressional approval.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Senator Mike Braun \u2062(R-Ind.) expressed his concerns, stating, \u2063&#8221;I think it&#8217;s another example of how if you can&#8217;t get things done through legislation, he&#8217;s going to be very apt to do things \u2063through executive orders and rulings.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added, &#8220;I&#8217;m a Republican who believes we need to \u2064be part of the \u200bclimate discussion, but not through\u200d extreme proposals and the manipulation of agencies to push a specific agenda.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>President Biden initially mentioned the creation of a &#8220;Civilian Climate Corps Initiative&#8221; in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2021\/01\/27\/executive-order-on-tackling-the-climate-crisis-at-home-and-abroad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">executive order<\/a> he signed during his first \u2063week in office.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In that order, he instructed the\u2063 Secretary of the Department of the Interior to develop a strategy for establishing such a program using existing appropriations within \u200c90 days.<\/p>\n<p>The Epoch Times\u200c has reached out to\u200c the White House \u2064for details on the funding sources\u200b for these existing appropriations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>In the meantime, the administration has \u2062already started <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/climatecorps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accepting applications<\/a> \u200c for the program through the White House website.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>This new initiative complements the \u2064Climate\u200c Corps programs launched by ten states, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, \u200bMinnesota,\u200d North Carolina, Utah, and Washington.<\/p>\n<p>Through this federal\u2064 program, the Biden administration \u200baims \u200dto train and compensate over 20,000 young Americans from diverse backgrounds for careers in climate and eco-friendly fields.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<em>Savannah Hulsey-Pointer and Jackson Richman contributed to\u2063 this report.<\/em>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> \u200d What legal authority supports the \u2063creation of the American Climate Corps initiative, and how does it differ from the establishment of the \u200cCivilian Conservation Corps?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Hat \u200bthe American\u200d Climate\u200b Corps initiative lacks transparency and accountability.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Representative \u2062Comer and\u2062 Representative Sessions have both expressed \u200bconcern over the absence of legal authority supporting\u2064 the \u2062creation of the ACC.
