These slides are then examined under a microscope to render a &#8220;micro anatomic diagnosis.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The pathologist combines these findings to\u2062 create a comprehensive final report, which proves valuable once shared with the clinician.<\/p>\n<p>Whether on land, at sea, in the air, or in space, the &#8220;retrospective-scope&#8221; plays\u2063 a significant role in almost all\u2063 human endeavors.\u200b Just like a coach evaluating \u200bplays and making adjustments during\u2063 a sports game, physicians assess patients during active disease processes and modify treatment plans accordingly. Sports teams also rely on post-game sessions to review plays on film and \u200dmake\u2063 improvements for the next game. Similarly, the revised game plan or treatment plan.<\/p>\n<p>This article does not delve into the microscopic\u2064 details of the\u200d Iraq war, as that is best left \u2062to the generals and historians. Instead, it offers\u200c a broad overview of how the war could have been executed more effectively and potentially modernized \u200dArab society, propelling them into the 21st century.<\/p>\n<p>General Schwarzkopf, reflecting on Desert Storm and the liberation of Kuwait, expressed regret\u200c that his orders were to halt at the \u2064Iraq border. He \u200bhinted that he could have continued, captured Saddam Hussein, and swiftly concluded the Persian Gulf War.<\/p>\n<p>Saddam Hussein had underestimated the support of the 21-member Arab League. The conflict in Kuwait, initially known as the first Gulf War, eventually escalated into the second Gulf War, commonly referred to\u2063 as the Iraq War. It was believed that Saddam Hussein&#8217;s execution would lead to the liberation of Iraq and the establishment of a democratic state within a year. However, it was naive to assume that\u200c democracy could flourish when neither Iraq nor\u200b any \u200bof the \u2064other\u200d Arab League \u2062members \u200chad prior experience with it.<\/p>\n<p>After World War II, General MacArthur governed Japan for 13\u2062 years, allowing for\u200b the transformation of Japan into a free and civil society through comprehensive primary and secondary education. By the age of \u206418, \u2064an entire \u200bgeneration of Japanese\u200d had\u200b been exposed to the fundamental principles of freedom and \u2064democracy.<\/p>\n<p>Japan has remained a free society and\u2064 a steadfast ally for over 60 years. \u2063They supported us by\u200d providing military bases during the Korean and Vietnamese wars.<\/p>\n<p>If we had followed a similar approach in Iraq, \u2064establishing\u2064 a strong presence with \u200bsecure military bases and granting our\u200d commanding\u2062 general the same authority as General MacArthur,\u2063 could we\u2064 have civilized the Middle East? By educating the Arabs in Iraq about freedom from kindergarten through high school, we could have nurtured a generation steeped in liberty, civility, and democracy.<\/p>\n<p>A thriving democracy in Iraq would have been a powerful catalyst \u2064for change within\u2063 the 20-nation Arab League, altering the course of the Middle East after centuries of hostility. This new democracy could have transformed the mindset\u200d of Arabs and Muslims,\u200b offering the most effective means of reshaping the region.<\/p>\n<p>According \u200bto my Israeli colleagues,\u2063 young Muslims in the Middle East are taught by their parents and schools to view Jews as enemies. They are indoctrinated with \u2064the \u2062notion\u2064 that enemies must be eliminated. Overcoming 18 years of hatred and violence cannot be achieved in just six \u2064months or even six years. Perhaps not even in\u200c the 13 years we spent in Japan, instilling the values of human freedom, \u200blove, and friendship. Unfortunately, our leaders at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/iraq-a-postmortem-exam\/\" title=\"Iraq: An Autopsy\">time lacked sufficient public support<\/a> to establish lasting peace.<\/p>\n<p>Postmortem exams cannot bring back the dead or rewrite\u200b history. However, did we learn from \u2064our examination of Iraq to prevent further tragedies? Our failure to comprehend Arab history has hindered societal progress. Will we\u2063 continue to \u2063witness Arab wars and \u200dthe rise of groups like \u200cISIS for another millennium? Have we missed our opportunity to reshape the Middle East&#8217;s trajectory?<\/p>\n<p>Once \u200bagain, we find ourselves \u200dconfronted with the timeless \u2062reality of not understanding history, thus being condemned to\u200b repeat\u200c it. And at the\u200b cost \u2063of \u2064unnecessary American lives. The Iraqi society had a\u2062 deep-rooted sectarian divide, which became more\u200d prominent in the aftermath of the war.\u200b This division\u2063 fueled conflicts and prevented the establishment of \u2063a unified and \u2063stable government.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the decision to disband the Iraqi army and purge the Ba&#8217;ath party members from key government positions created a power vacuum that was quickly filled by militant groups \u200band exacerbated the security situation in the country. The lack of a comprehensive plan \u200bfor post-war reconstruction \u200cand governance further complicated the \u200bsituation and hindered any progress \u2063towards stability.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the presence of insurgent groups, such as Al-Qaeda\u200c and later ISIS, posed significant challenges to the security forces and further destabilized \u2063the country. The rise of sectarian violence and the targeting \u2063of civilians created a cycle\u2062 of violence \u200dand fear that hindered\u200b any efforts towards nation-building.<\/p>\n<p>In hindsight, it is clear that the Iraq war could have been executed differently to achieve a more\u2064 positive outcome. A more comprehensive \u200dunderstanding of the \u200bsocial, \u200dcultural, and political dynamics of the region should\u2062 have been\u2062 the foundation \u200dof any military \u200bintervention.
