says that all the above\u2062 arguments are mostly pro-CBDC propaganda that masks its true nature.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>&#8220;What <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-fed-chair-says-his-mind-is-open-on-a-digital-dollar\/\" title=\"WATCH: Fed Chair Says His \u2018Mind Is Open\u2019 On A \u2018Digital Dollar\u2019\">central bank digital currency<\/a> \u200breally is, is it&#8217;s digital money that&#8217;s programmable, that can be monitored by the government and can be censored by \u200dthe government,&#8221;\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/epochtv\/currency-of-control-how-cbdc-implementation-is-leading-to-global-tyranny-aaron-day-5505354\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he told<\/a> EpochTV&#8217;s &#8220;American Thought Leaders&#8221; program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>&#8216;Global Tyranny&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>Mr. Day said the mass adoption of CBDCs would\u200c usher in an age where the \u2062government tracks every\u200d transaction, and this\u2062 digital money can even be programmed \u2062so that people\u200c can use it to buy only the things that the government\u2063 decides it wants people to buy.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Day warned that,\u200d unless people resist and force a course correction, the current &#8220;default situation is that we move into global tyranny, in\u200b this one world form of \u2063government based \u200bon fear, centralization, and complete authoritarian control.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And the basis for that is central bank digital currency,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Further, Mr. Day argued that once CDBCs are implemented, then \u2064&#8221;all of the \u200bsocial credit systems, vaccine passports, and everything that basically limits our ability to even protest or\u200b change&#8221; America for the better &#8220;will be lost forever.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Day&#8217;s warning comes amid a growing push for the adoption of CBDCs across the world.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The International Monetary \u200bFund\u2063 (IMF) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/article\/imf-pushes-global-central-bank-digital-currency-platform-as-cashless-trend-builds-steam-5342326\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced over the summer<\/a> that it is working on a platform that would allow various <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fed-inches-closer-to-developing-central-bank-digital-currency\/\" title=\"Fed Inches Closer to Developing Central Bank Digital Currency\">central bank digital currencies<\/a> (CBDC) to interoperate on a global\u200d scale.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;CBDCs should not be fragmented national propositions &#8230; To have more \u2062efficient \u200band fairer transactions, we need systems that connect countries\u2014we need interoperability,&#8221; IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said during an event in Morocco on June 19, 2023.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>&#8220;For this reason at the IMF, we are working \u2064on\u2064 the concept of a global CBDC platform,&#8221; she continued, adding \u200bthat the IMF wants central banks to reach a \u200dconsensus on a common global regulatory framework for digital currencies that would give global adoption a major boost.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>At the\u200d time, she said that out of 114 central banks around the world that are exploring issuing national\u200d CBDCs\u2014around 10 have already crossed the\u2062 finish line\u2014and that &#8220;we will pursue relentlessly together&#8221; the development of central bank digital currencies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>CBDC in the United States<\/h2>\n<p>CBDC adoption in the United States has slowly\u2063 gained traction, with the Biden administration releasing a paper last September that examined the possibilities of introducing a \u200dtechnical \u200cframework that would support a U.S. digital dollar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf \u200bthe United States pursued a CBDC, there could be many possible benefits, \u2062such as facilitating efficient and\u2062 low-cost transactions,\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-exploring-risks-benefits-of-central-bank-digital-currency\/\" title=\"White House Exploring Risks, Benefits of Central Bank Digital Currency\">fostering greater access<\/a> to\u200d the financial system, boosting economic\u200c growth, and supporting the continued centrality of the United States \u2064within the international financial system,\u201d said the \u200dWhite House Office of Science and Technology Policy, detailing the \u2062technical framework\u200c possibilities for\u200d a U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/it-takes-a-china-like-government-to-force-central-bank-digital-currency-on-people-former-senate-economist\/\" title=\"Former Senate Economist: Central Bank Digital Currency Requires Authoritarian Government Like China's\">central bank\u200c digital currency<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>While the Federal Reserve hasn&#8217;t stated any definitive plans to introduce a CBDC, \u200bit&#8217;s looking into the matter and has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/article\/fednow-launches-in-us-fed-insists-payment-system-not-related-to-a-digital-currency-5413897\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">already launched<\/a> \u2064the FedNow service, an &#8220;instant \u200bpayment&#8221; \u200dplatform that some say sets the groundwork for the future adoption of a CBDC.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>\u201cFedNow appears to be a prototype CBDC,\u201d \u2063Jordan Schachtel, \u200bpublisher of \u201cThe Dossier\u201d on\u200c Substack, stated in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JordanSchachtel\/status\/1636142181428649987?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post on X<\/a> earlier this year when the Fed \u2063first announced plans for FedNow.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhile instant, 24\/7 payments seem good, there\u2019s implications to \u200cleaning into credit-based \u2064system. FedNow can quickly transform to a surveillance system,\u201d he\u2062 argued.<\/p>\n<p>The Fed has repeatedly denied that FedNow is related to the adoption \u200cof a CBDC, insisting that it&#8217;s a payment system that allows \u2063businesses and\u2063 individuals to receive instant payments.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, during congressional testimony in early March, Federal \u2062Reserve Chair Jerome Powell was asked by a lawmaker whether there\u2019s an advantage to the FedNow payment \u200bsystem over a CBDC or stablecoins, which also tout faster payment services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA CBDC is going to \u2062be years in evaluation,\u201d Mr. Powell said\u200d at the \u200dtime.\u200c \u201cAnd I think we can get this into the hands of the public very \u200bquickly, and we\u2019ll have real-time payments in this country very, very soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>FedNow \u201cwill enable\u200b all the banks\u2014any bank in \u200bthe United States, not just the big ones\u2014to offer instantly available funds and\u200c real-time payments to their customers,\u201d Mr. Powell said before the House Financial Services Committee on March 8. \u201cThat\u2019s a\u2062 great thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A similar private-sector payment \u2062system \u200bthat offers\u2064 instant settlement features, such as FedNow, \u2064has\u2064 been around since 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Some Fed officials have warned that CBDCs could pose risks to the country. During a speech\u200b on April\u200c 18, for example, Fed \u2063Governor Michelle W. Bowman stated that safeguarding privacy is a \u201ctop concern\u201d when it comes\u2062 to CBDCs.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>\u201cIn thinking about the implications of CBDC and privacy, we must\u2062 also consider the central\u200c role that money plays in our daily\u200b lives, and the risk that a CBDC would provide not only a\u2064 window into, but \u2062potentially\u200d an impediment\u200b to, the freedom Americans enjoy in choosing how money \u2064and resources are used and \u2062invested,\u201d Ms. Bowman said at the time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Threat \u2062to &#8216;Core Freedoms&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>While institutions like the IMF see the adoption of CBDCs\u2064 as inevitable and are laying the groundwork for\u200c their wide adoption, an analysis from the Cato \u2063Institute found that CBDCs pose a foundational risk to America&#8217;s economic systems while offering few\u200c benefits.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>&#8220;While CBDC proponents present many potential benefits,\u2064 those benefits do not stand up to scrutiny,&#8221; the think tank stated\u200c in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cato.org\/policy-analysis\/central-bank-digital-currency\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">April analysis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Proponents of\u2062 CBDCs routinely cite the promotion of financial inclusion, faster payments, making fiscal policies easier to implement,\u200d and, in the case of a U.S. central bank \u200ddigital currency, it would help preserve the \u200ddollar&#8217;s status\u2062 as a world reserve currency.<\/p>\n<p>However, the \u2062Cato analysis\u200c says all four arguments don&#8217;t hold water.<\/p>\n<p>On financial inclusion, the think tank said \u2063that the push for CBDCs fails to take \u2064into account that private sector innovations \u200bare taking place. Further, as a solution, it doesn&#8217;t really address\u2062 the needs of \u2062the unbanked, the think tank said.<\/p>\n<p>As to the faster payments argument, Cato analysts acknowledged that speeding\u200c up\u2062 transactions is a &#8220;noble effort,&#8221; but that &#8220;a CBDC \u2064would fail to provide a unique, or even additional, benefit compared with\u2062 the existing developments in the private sector.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The think tank also dismissed the argument that a U.S. CBDC would help preserve the greenback&#8217;s status as\u200b the world&#8217;s reserve currency. They assert that\u2064 the dollar&#8217;s\u200d attraction isn&#8217;t \u2064based on one particular financial technological platform or another but on factors such as property rights\u2062 and\u200c a strong economy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The dollar\u2019s renowned status is owed to the strength of the American economy and its legal protections for private citizens relative to most other \u2062countries, not the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cbdc-implementation-will-usher-in-global-tyranny-aaron-day\/\" title=\"CBDCs will bring global tyranny: Aaron Day.\">specific technology enabling electronic transfers<\/a>,&#8221;\u200d the \u2063analysts wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200dfinal argument\u2014that a CBDC would\u2064 help with the implementation of monetary and fiscal policy\u2014also \u2062falls short, according to \u200bCato, which called the idea that a digital dollar would let policymakers fine-tune the economy both &#8220;sanguine&#8221; and &#8220;concerning.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, while a\u200c CBDC wouldn&#8217;t offer any unique benefits compared \u2062with existing\u200d technologies, it would pose &#8220;serious risks,&#8221; the\u200d think tank warned.<\/p>\n<p>This includes a &#8220;substantial&#8221; threat to financial privacy and financial\u200d freedom, as well as the foundation of the banking system itself.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> What\u200b is the\u200c significance of the IMF&#8217;s plans to develop a global CBDC platform \u2064in relation to\u2063 the concerns raised by Aaron Day and\u200b the potential for increased government\u2064 control<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Class=&#8221;author-bioct-lg1&#8243;><\/p>\n<p>Aaron \u200cDay is an author and \u2063serial entrepreneur who has\u200b been a vocal critic\u200b of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).
