There are inherent risks to consumers who purchase unapproved new drugs \u200band misbranded drugs. The two\u2063 firms have until the end of October to provide an explanation, and failure to do so may result in legal action by the FDA, including seizure or an injunction.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">In recent months,\u2062 there has been a surge in demand for Wegovy, Ozempic, and other semaglutide products in the United States and other Western countries due to the ongoing obesity crisis. Novo Nordisk had to limit the distribution of Wegovy to the U.S. market due to potential supply concerns. <\/p>\n<h2>FDA Warnings<\/h2>\n<p> In late September, the FDA announced that these drugs can\u200d lead to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/company-issues-warnings-on-popular-weight-loss-drugs\/\" title=\"Company warns about popular weight-loss drugs.\">potentially life-threatening condition called<\/a> &#8220;ileus,&#8221; which is \u2064characterized by impaired intestinal\u200d function.<\/div>\n<p>The FDA stated that some adverse \u200creactions, including ileus, have been reported during \u200dthe post-approval use of semaglutide.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">&#8220;Because these reactions are reported voluntarily from a population of uncertain size, it is not always possible to reliably estimate their frequency or establish a causal relationship to drug exposure,&#8221; the FDA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/scripts\/cder\/safetylabelingchanges\/index.cfm?event=searchdetail.page&#038;DrugNameID=2183\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stated<\/a> on its website.<\/div>\n<p>Ozempic works by \u2064mimicking the hormone GLP-1, which can slow down the passage of food in the digestive system, making \u200dpeople feel full for longer.
