Jordan had previously received the backing of former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy himself faced \u200ba similar challenge before becoming speaker, with the \u200cHouse going through 15 rounds of voting before settling on him. Scalise now needs 217 \u200bvotes for the\u2064 job, but\u200b with only 221 House \u2063Republicans, he has little room for error.<\/p>\n<h3>Divisions within the GOP<\/h3>\n<p>After the vote, Rep. Thomas Massie revealed that there\u2063 are at least 20\u2062 GOP members who will not support Scalise. Rep.
