Well, if \u2062you&#8217;re black, the\u200b police\u200b will launch a massive statewide alert,\u2063 plastering\u2064 your\u2062 name and description on billboards, TV tickers, and buzzing\u2062 every cell phone in the state.\u2062 But if you&#8217;re white, they&#8217;ll simply dismiss it as \u2062a waste of time. Sounds unbelievable, right? Well, get ready, because this is the \u200creality that California is about to \u2062face.<\/p>\n<p>Starting next summer, California will implement a new law called the &#8220;Ebony alert,&#8221; which will be issued when\u200c black people aged \u200c25 \u2063and\u200d under go missing. This alert\u200c system,\u200c similar to the Amber alert, aims\u200c to find missing individuals. However, it raises some serious concerns. Why \u2064does California need a separate alert system based on race? The data shows \u2063that the current Amber alert system is\u200c not discriminatory, with black children\u2062 accounting for\u2063 a proportional number of missing-child reports and Amber Alerts.
