Steve Scalise of Louisiana is vying for the position\u2062 of House Speaker, but\u200c he is expected to fall \u2064short of the 217 votes needed to win. According to one Republican leader, Scalise will be at least 20\u200d votes shy,\u2063 leaving an opportunity for Rep. Jim\u200d Jordan of Ohio, who has the backing of former President Trump, to potentially secure\u200c the victory.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky has stated\u2064 that at least 20 Republicans will not be voting for Scalise.
