Stellantis did not immediately\u200c comment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Kentucky walkout is a\u2064 warning to Stellantis and General Motors \u200b(GM.N), whose wage \u2064and\u2064 benefits offers fall short of Ford\u2019s, based on summaries the automakers and the UAW have released.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Some analysts saw Fain\u2019s decision to shut down \u200bFord\u2019s Kentucky Truck\u2063 plant, \u2062which builds \u200dSuper Duty\u200b pickups and\u200b Lincoln\u2062 Navigator SUVs, as a sign that the endgame could \u200cbe \u2063starting in the nearly \u200cmonth-long\u200d round of \u200dcoordinated walkouts at the\u200d Detroit Three.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cPressure was always needed to force a deal,\u201d Evercore ISI analyst Chris McNally wrote in a note on Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ford\u2019s shares fell 2% to $12.01 in late\u2064 morning trading while GM\u2019s\u200c shares were \u200bdown\u200d 1.7%\u2063 at $30.47.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Last Friday, Fain said\u2062 if \u2063needed, the UAW would\u2063 strike \u2062the GM \u2062assembly \u2064plant in Arlington, Texas that builds Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Suburban and other large, high-priced SUVs.\u200d GM\u2019s Flint heavy-duty truck\u200d assembly plant is another \u200cpotential strike target.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fain has scheduled a video address for Friday at 10 am ET. In \u2064past weeks, Fain has used \u2063Friday\u200d addresses to order additional \u2064walkouts, or announce progress \u200bin bargaining.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>High-profit targets at Stellantis include the automaker\u2019s Ram \u200cpickup truck factories in Sterling Heights and Warren, Michigan, \u2062as well as two Jeep SUV factories in Detroit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThis puts everybody on notice,\u201d said Sam Fiorani, vice president of \u200cglobal vehicle\u200d forecasting at AutoForecast Solutions. \u201cIf\u2062 they haven\u2019t brought anything new to the table since last week, GM\u200b and Stellantis should \u200dbe\u200c worried.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Analysts at Wells Fargo estimated that \u2062Ford will lose about $150 \u2064million per week \u2062in core profit from the Kentucky plant strike.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe think this escalation is a sign \u200dthat the UAW could be close to a\u200d contract proposal with Ford\u2064 in the next 1-2 weeks,\u201d Wells Fargo analyst Colin Langan said in the\u2062 note.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Automakers have more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/surprise-uaw-strike-at-ford-raises-stakes-for-detroit-three\/\" title=\"UAW strike at Ford intensifies competition for Detroit Three.\">doubled initial wage hike offers<\/a>, agreed\u2063 to raise \u200bwages along with inflation and improved pay for temporary workers, but the union wants \u2064higher\u2062 wages still, the abolishment of a \u2064two-tier wage \u200dsystem and the \u2063expansion of unions to battery plants.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The UAW has room to expand its walkouts and increase the pressure on the Detroit Three to \u200doffer bigger wage gains, richer retirement packages and more assurances that\u200b new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/auto-workers-stop-expanding-strikes-against-detroit-three-after-gm-makes-battery-plant-concession\/\" title=\"Auto workers halt strikes against Detroit Three as GM concedes battery plant expansion.\">electric vehicle \u2064battery plants<\/a> will be unionized.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Even with 8,700 workers at Ford\u2019s Kentucky Truck plant now on\u200d strike,\u2063 less \u200dthan a quarter of the\u200b 150,000\u2062 UAW workers \u2062at\u2063 the Detroit Three automakers are now \u200con strike. However, thousands more \u200dhave been furloughed from \u2064jobs at operations that are not on strike because automakers said the walkouts made their work unnecessary.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ford said Wednesday \u200cit was laying off another 58 workers\u2064 in Michigan as a result of the strike.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ford warned workers at\u2062 a dozen other factories \u200bcould be\u200c sent home because of the truck plant walkout. Officials say new layoffs \u200dstemming from the Kentucky \u200cstrike\u200b could begin in \u2064the coming days.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Its Kentucky \u2062truck plant, the company\u2019s \u2062most profitable operation, generates $25 billion in annual sales, about a sixth of Ford\u2019s\u200d global automotive revenue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThere are very \u2063expensive products here that are extremely profitable,\u201d\u200c Fiorani said. \u201cWith the Super Duty in this plant, this is Ford\u2019s largest plant.
