However, the number dropped to \u200d5,225 in January 2023 after the administration introduced an online application program for immigrants \u200cleaving Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>While\u200b paroled illegal immigrants are shielded from deportation for a limited period, up to a year, they receive no \u200dother protections. New York Mayor Eric \u200dAdams (D) recently traveled to Mexico to discourage individuals from \u2063crossing the \u2063border, citing the lack of resources provided by the Biden administration to process the influx of illegal immigrants. He expressed his disappointment, stating \u200dthat\u2063 the president had &#8220;failed&#8221; New York.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>According \u200dto \u200dAP VoteCast, 61 percent of Democrats polled expressed\u200b a desire for stronger law enforcement at the border, while 66 percent of independents disapproved of the\u200b president&#8217;s border security policies. \u200dThe White \u2063House has not yet responded to requests for comment from The Epoch \u200bTimes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In March,\u2062 U.S. District Judge T. \u200cKent Wetherell II, a President Trump appointee, ruled in favor of Ms. Moody&#8217;s lawsuit against\u2063 the Biden administration. In his 109-page opinion, the judge criticized Biden&#8217;s parole policies, stating that\u2063 they effectively undermine border security and prioritize &#8220;alternatives to detention&#8221; \u2062over actual detention.<\/p>\n<p>During the court proceedings, Ms. \u200dMoody presented a deposition from U.S. Border Patrol Chief\u200b Raul Ortiz, who revealed\u2064 that Biden intentionally reduced detention capacity at Border Patrol facilities, \u2062resulting in the release of thousands of illegal immigrants into \u2062Florida and other states. \u2064Mr. Ortiz warned \u2063that this\u200c crisis is jeopardizing the safety\u200b of\u2063 both Americans and \u2063immigrants.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Ms. Moody&#8217;s\u200c petition highlights the alarming number of\u200d illegal immigrants released \u2062under Biden&#8217;s \u2064DHS border policies, with 100,585 released in August 2023 alone. She estimates that over one million illegal immigrants are released every\u200d year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In her petition, Ms. Moody calls for the closure of the &#8220;catch-and-release&#8221; loophole in federal law and the amendment of rules governing\u200c immigrant release and parole eligibility.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney generals\u2062 from \u206427 states, including Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, \u200dGeorgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, \u200dMissouri, Montana, \u200cNebraska, New \u2062Hampshire, North \u2064Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee,\u2064 Texas,\u2063 Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming, have signed Ms. Moody&#8217;s petition.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Petitions \u200bfor Rulemaking, such as\u2064 this one, are allowed \u200dunder the Administrative\u2062 Procedure Act (APA), which\u200b grants officials and citizens the right to express their desire for \u2062new regulations, deregulations, or\u200b modifications to existing regulations, according to the Center for Effective Government.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The APA\u200b does not specify the exact rules that federal agencies\u2063 must follow when\u2063 receiving Petitions\u200b for \u200dRulemaking.
