The recent nomination of Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) has\u2062 the potential to lead to a situation similar to what \u2062occurred earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/blackburn-introduces-amendments-to-counter-china-and-iran\/\" title=\"Blackburn Introduces Amendments to Counter China and Iran\">simple majority vote<\/a>, Scalise \u200demerged victorious over Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) to become the\u2062 Republican Party&#8217;s nominee for \u200dHouse speaker. However, York points\u2064 out that Scalise may encounter difficulties\u2064 in securing the necessary 217 votes\u2062 from\u200c the\u200c House to assume \u200dthe role of House speaker.<\/p>\n<h3>Democrats Target Republicans in Biden Districts Over House Speaker \u200dVote<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;That is the question,&#8221; Chad remarked on Fox\u200d News. &#8220;Republicans really, \u200breally want to avoid a replay of what happened in January, where\u200b the party was in disarray, going through 15 ballots to choose a speaker. But it seems they could \u2063be heading\u2063 towards a similar situation now. If you look at the vote\u2063 Scalise won, \u200d113-99, \u2064I&#8217;m not good at \u200bmath, but that does not add\u2064 up to 217.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In \u2063January, the House went through \u206315 rounds of voting before ultimately electing\u200b Rep. Kevin\u200b McCarthy (R-CA) as House speaker. York suggests that Scalise&#8217;s\u200c chances of becoming House \u2064speaker may be significantly diminished if the 99 individuals who voted for Jordan refuse to support Scalise\u200b and instead insist on Jordan or another candidate.<\/p>\n<p>York highlights that this House \u2064speaker vote presents a common challenge\u200b for House Republicans, as they only secured a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mitch-mcconnells-betrayal-hurts-the-nation-goodwin\/\" title=\"Mitch McConnell\u2019s betrayal hurts the nation\">slim majority<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/donald-trump-jr-outlines-future-of-maga-movement\/\" title=\"Donald Trump Jr. outlines future of MAGA movement\">2022 midterm elections<\/a>. Moving forward, House Republicans will need \u200cto be &#8220;almost unanimous&#8221; in\u2064 their pursuit of legislative goals, according to \u2062York.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. \u2062Max Miller (R-OH)\u200b has \u200dmade it\u200d clear that he will only vote for Jordan on the floor. Until Jordan removes himself from the\u2062 race, Miller \u2062will not consider voting\u2063 for Scalise or any other \u2062candidate.
