Chuck Grassley and James\u2063 Lankford have called\u200b on the FBI to sever its relationship with the \u2063Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/climate-alarmists-the-sixth-mass-extinction-really-has-begun\/\" title=\"Climate Alarmists: The Sixth Mass Extinction \u2018Really Has Begun\u2019\">highly biased<\/a> and unreliable source. In an exclusive letter shared with The Federalist, the senators highlighted the SPLC&#8217;s history of smearing \u200dpolitical opponents on the left.<\/p>\n<p>The senators were informed in September that the FBI still uses \u2063the SPLC as a source, as long as their bias is disclosed. \u200dHowever, considering\u200d the SPLC&#8217;s track record of tarnishing organizations with Christian missions or conservative ties, Grassley and Lankford argued that\u200d the FBI should permanently refrain from relying\u200d on the SPLC for \u200bany data or \u200binformation related to hate group designations.<\/p>\n<p>The SPLC is notorious for disseminating its &#8220;hate group&#8221; list, which includes over 1,225 organizations, to Democrat allies in Congress, Big Tech, and woke corporations. Recently, the SPLC targeted grassroots groups,\u2064 such as Moms For Liberty, as &#8220;anti-government extremist groups&#8221; in its 2022 &#8220;hate and extremism&#8221; report.<\/p>\n<p>The SPLC&#8217;s infamy extends\u200c to galvanizing a Virginia man to attack the Family\u2063 Research\u200b Council and its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/grassley-lankford-demand-fbi-immediately-ditch-extremely-biased-splc-as-investigative-source\/\" title=\"Grassley, Lankford urge FBI to drop biased SPLC as source.\">staff members facing \u200ddomestic\u200c terrorism \u200bcharges<\/a>. It was only after this attack that the FBI removed\u2063 the SPLC as a resource from its Hate \u2063Crime landing \u200cpage.<\/p>\n<p>Grassley and Lankford emphasized that the FBI \u2063should distance\u200c itself completely from the SPLC. They \u2062pointed \u200bout that \u2062the FBI&#8217;s leaked memo targeting traditional Catholics heavily relied on SPLC data, which raises concerns about the surveillance and\u200c investigation of Christians who\u200c attend\u2062 Latin \u200bMass.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200csenators asserted that there is never a legitimate reason to use the SPLC as a source due to its extreme bias. \u2062They called on the FBI and its field offices to cease using the SPLC as\u200c an investigative source and analytical product.<\/p>\n<p>The letter\u200b comes at a time when\u2064 the FBI is\u200b reportedly targeting Trump \u2064voters as domestic extremists ahead of the 2024 election. Rather than focusing on real\u2063 hate \u200cgroups that pose a \u2064genuine threat to society, the SPLC has expanded its definition of &#8220;hate&#8221; to include individuals and organizations that simply hold conservative \u200cviewpoints.<\/p>\n<p>One\u200b of\u2063 the most concerning aspects of the SPLC&#8217;s \u2062work \u200cis its habit of labeling organizations and individuals as &#8220;hate groups&#8221; without providing substantive evidence to support these claims. This\u200c not \u200conly smears the reputations of innocent individuals and groups, but\u2062 it also undermines \u200cthe \u2063credibility of the \u200bSPLC \u200citself. In recent years, the organization has faced\u2064 multiple \u200blawsuits from those who have been unfairly targeted by their labeling.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2062 senators\u200c rightly point out in their \u2062letter that the \u2064FBI should \u2063not associate itself with an organization that engages in such irresponsible\u2063 practices. Law enforcement agencies, \u200bincluding the FBI, should rely on\u200b objective and reliable sources when gathering information. Collaborating with a biased organization like \u2062the SPLC only serves to undermine the \u2064integrity and impartiality of the FBI.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the \u200dSPLC has been criticized for its lack of \u2064transparency and financial mismanagement. In 2019, co-founder Morris Dees\u200d was fired for alleged misconduct, raising serious concerns about the organization&#8217;s internal practices.
