Moments after Hamas launched the deadliest assault on Jewish civilians since the Holocaust this weekend, the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) defended\u2063 the killing spree. <\/p>\n

\u201cDSA is steadfast\u2064 in\u200b expressing our solidarity with Palestine,\u201d<\/strong> the party wrote\u200d <\/a>on X, formerly known as\u2064 Twitter,\u2062 on Saturday.\u2062 \u201cToday\u2019s \u200devents\u2062 are a direct result \u2064of Israel\u2019s \u2063apartheid \u2063regime \u2014 a regime\u2063 that receives \u2063billions in funding from the United States. End\u2064 the \u2062violence. End the Occupation. Free Palestine.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe unequivocally condemn the killing \u2064of all civilians. It \u2063is\u200b imperative for international human rights<\/a>\u200c law \u200cto be respected,\u201d<\/strong> the DSA added. \u201cBut\u200d we cannot forget that the Israeli state has systematically denied Palestinians the right to self-determination for decades. \u2026 As socialists, we must act.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
Just one out of the\u2063 six Democrats affiliated with\u200b the DSA responded to The Federalist\u2019s repeated inquiries\u200c to condemn the\u200b statement. Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Mich., ripped the statement as having nothing to \u2064do \u200cwith socialism.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is classic antisemitic rhetoric. What the DSA missed here is that this is a terrorist \u2063attack<\/a>, the biggest murdering\u2062 of Jewish people since the \u2062Holocaust,\u201d Thanedar told The Federalist in an \u200cinterview. \u201cI am not\u200d very proud of the DSA at this time as a member of\u2064 that organization.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the DSA to be\u200b supportive of a terrorist organization and such a barbaric terrorist attack<\/a> is \u2064just unbelievable, and I \u200dwant\u2064 no part of that,\u201d Thanedar added. \u201cThat\u2019s not\u2064 progressive. That\u2019s not socialism. That\u2019s just \u200btotally\u2062 irresponsible hatred\u200d against Jews and towards the state\u200d of Israel.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, Iranian-backed<\/a> Palestinian \u200dmilitants with \u200cthe Hamas terror group launched a surprise attack killing \u2063at least 1,000 <\/a>Israeli civilians and troops so far. At least 260<\/a> of them were killed when Hamas gunmen paraglided into a music festival and began to shoot down\u200d attendees. <\/p>\n
At least 150 people<\/a> were taken to the Gaza Strip as hostages and\u200c remain in captivity. At least 14 Americans\u2062 were\u200c killed in the attack, and nearly two dozen are still missing, \u200d according <\/a>to the White House on\u200c Tuesday. <\/p>\n
Pro-Palestinian\u2062 protests under the banner of the DSA, featuring a swastika and a desecrated Israeli flag, erupted in\u200b New York City in response to the Middle East carnage.<\/p>\n
