George Santos Faces Additional\u2063 Charges in Superseding Indictment<\/h2>\n<p>Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/george-santos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Santos<\/a> (R-NY) has been hit with a 23-count superseding indictment, unsealed on Tuesday, that includes shocking allegations of stealing donor&#8217;s identities and using their credit cards for unauthorized purchases.<\/p>\n<p>The new charges, which\u2063 can be \u200cfound <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-edny\/pr\/congressman-george-santos-charged-conspiracy-wire-fraud-false-statements-0\">here<\/a>, consist of one count of conspiracy \u2063to commit offenses\u200c against the United States, two counts of wire fraud, two counts \u2064of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/feds-charge-five-alleged-chinese-spies-for-carrying-out-harassment-campaigns-against-u-s-residents\/\" title=\"Feds Charge Five Alleged Chinese Spies For Carrying Out Harassment Campaigns Against U.S. Residents\">making materially false statements<\/a> to the Federal Election\u2064 Commission (FEC), two counts of obstructing the \u2062FEC by falsifying records, \u2063two counts of aggravated identity theft, and one count of access device\u2064 fraud.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Santos was charged \u200cwith seven counts\u200d of wire \u2064fraud, three counts of money laundering, \u2063one count of theft of public funds, and two counts of\u200d making materially false statements to the United States House of Representatives.<\/p>\n<p>These\u2063 new charges come after Nancy Marks, Santos&#8217; former campaign treasurer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/top-official-for-george-santos-campaign-pleads-guilty-to-multiple-federal-crimes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pleaded guilty<\/a> to multiple federal\u2063 charges last week. Marks played a role in falsely reporting that Santos made a $500,000 loan to his\u2063 campaign, creating the illusion of\u2063 greater support. \u200bHowever, Santos actually has less than\u2062 $8,000 in his bank\u200b account.<\/p>\n<p>Marks admitted to\u2063 committing wire fraud, \u2064making materially false \u2064statements, obstructing\u200d the administration of the Federal Election Commission, and committing \u2063aggravated identity theft, according\u200c to federal prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>During the 2022 midterm elections, Santos and Marks allegedly conspired to deceive \u2063the Republican \u200dNational Committee (RNC) by inflating the campaign&#8217;s fundraising numbers. Because of these unauthorized transactions, funds were transferred to Santos&#8217;s campaign, to the campaigns of other candidates for elected office, and to his own bank account. \u200bTo conceal the true\u200c source \u2062of these funds and to circumvent campaign \u2062contribution\u2064 limits, Santos falsely represented that some of the campaign contributions were\u2063 made by \u200dother persons, such as his relatives or associates, rather than \u2062the true cardholders. Santos did not have authorization to use their names in this way.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Breon Peace, United States Attorney for the Eastern\u2063 District of New York, Nicole M. Argentieri, Acting Assistant Attorney General of the Justice Department&#8217;s Criminal Division, \u2064James \u2063Smith, Assistant Director-in-Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, New York Field Office (FBI), and Anne T. Donnelly, Nassau\u2064 County District Attorney, jointly announced the superseding indictment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As alleged, \u2062Santos is charged with stealing\u200b people&#8217;s identities and making charges on his own donors&#8217; credit cards\u200b without their \u2064authorization, lying to the FEC and, by extension, the public about the financial state of his campaign,&#8221; said United States Attorney Breon Peace. &#8220;Santos\u200c falsely inflated the campaign&#8217;s reported receipts with non-existent loans \u200cand contributions that were either fabricated or stolen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> How have the \u2064charges against Santos and\u200c Marks affected public trust \u200cin our democratic system?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Ational Committee (RNC), as well as individual donors, by falsely representing the level of financial support for Santos&#8217; campaign.
