The attacks began on Simchat Torah, a Jewish holiday, resulting in a death toll of approximately 200 people as of Sunday afternoon. In\u200c response, Israel has launched a counter strike into \u2063Palestine.<\/p>\n<h3>Resolution to\u200b Support Israel: Jordan&#8217;s First\u2062 Directive<\/h3>\n<p>When asked about his first directive as speaker, Jordan pledged to introduce a resolution to \u2062support the state of Israel. He believes\u2062 this is an issue \u200bthat will garner bipartisan and bicameral support from the \u2064United States government.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is our great friend and great ally &#8211; the state of Israel. I think that&#8217;s front and center,&#8221; Jordan stated.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) is also vying for the speaker position, but former President Donald Trump has endorsed \u200bJordan over the House Majority leader.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The American people right\u200c now are thirsty for leadership,\u200b and I don&#8217;t think they&#8217;re seeing it from the White House or the Senate,&#8221; Jordan continued. &#8220;House Republicans need to \u200cunite and show the country that we&#8217;re \u200dfighting for them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jordan, a founding \u200cmember of \u2063the Freedom Caucus and an\u2064 eight-term representative, \u200ccurrently chairs the House \u2062Judiciary Committee.
