I wouldn\u2019t go as far\u2062 as to say Trump has an outright advantage yet, as many of the swing state polling\u200c leads are within the margin\u200b of error. But Trump certainly\u200b is experiencing a bump, helped by some political environment factors\u200b and the current\u200b perception of the incumbent President. Nearly 70% of Americans\u2064 feel \u200blike our \u200ccountry\u2064 is on the wrong\u200d track, and Biden\u2019s approval rating sits around just 40%.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Across the states with the narrowest margins of victory in 2020 \u200d\u2014 Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada,\u2062 North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin \u2014 Trump is leading Biden 41 percent to 35 \u2063percent, according to a\u200b mid-September Reuters\/Ipsos poll.<\/p>\n<p>In Pennsylvania, which was crucial in deciding the 2020 election, Trump is leading Biden by 2 points, according to a Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday. The former president also beat Biden 48 percent to\u2064 39 percent among independent voters.<\/p>\n<p>In Georgia, Trump is ahead of Biden 47 percent to 38 percent, according to a\u2064 Rasmussen Reports survey released on Sept. 15.<\/p>\n<p>The former president\u2064 is also beating Biden \u200bin North\u2064 Carolina by 4 points, a \u2064near 3-point gain \u2063from when\u200c Trump won the state in\u2062 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important to remember that Trump only lost Arizona, Georgia, \u200band Wisconsin by about 40,000 votes combined. So, the assumption that Biden\u2064 would cruise to re-election if Trump becomes the nominee was flawed from the start,\u201d Klein said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat aside, Biden\u2019s numbers have been dropping \u200drecently across\u2063 the board. Crime, immigration, and his \u2064rampant mismanagement of crisis\u2064 after crisis have all\u200b combined \u200bto sour his standing with \u2064Americans,\u200c which\u200d has begun to\u2063 show in his polling numbers. \u200cToday, around 60% of Americans disapprove of Biden\u2019s handling of immigration, \u200dthe highest we\u2019ve\u2062 seen throughout\u2062 his presidency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2062 would \u2063beat Biden 47\u200d percent to 43 percent in a \u200bnational head-to-head \u2062matchup, and the former president is advantaged more with third-party candidates\u2063 in the mix, according to a\u200d late September McLaughlin &#038; Associates survey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump is running to \u2064win the presidency and we have to beat Joe Biden.\u200d And our opponents are running a\u2064 campaign in the primary trying to say we cannot beat Joe Biden, and that\u2019s\u200d been proven false,\u201d John \u2063McLaughlin, CEO and partner of\u2062 McLaughlin &#038; Associates, which works closely with the Trump campaign, \u200btold the DCNF.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are not just our polls, but these\u200c are \u200dlots of \u200cmedia polls, and some of them are \u2064not as\u200d favorable to Republicans when they don\u2019t \u200breally reflect the actual\u2064 voter turnout. But still, we\u2019re doing\u2064 well in those polls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Marquette Law School poll released Wednesday suggests Trump is\u2064 leading\u2064 Biden 51 percent\u200b to 48 percent among registered\u2062 voters. The former president trounced Biden by 10 points in a late September Washington Post\/ABC survey.<\/p>\n<p>A CNN\/SSRS poll released Sept. 7 indicated that nearly every Republican primary candidate \u200dwould \u2064beat Biden \u2062in a general election matchup, with Trump leading by 1 point.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs\u200c Biden\u2019s\u2064 likeability\u2063 has\u200c waned, we\u2019re seeing a real\u2062 trend\u200c of \u2062voters being \u2064drawn\u200b back in by Trump\u2019s \u2063policies,\u201d Klein\u2063 said.\u200c \u201cAs Trump \u2062now\u2062 sits on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/series-of-recent-national-polls-released-its-big-for-trump-but-biden-wont-like-it\/\" title=\"New Polls Favor Trump, Biden Displeased\">small put persistent\u2064 lead<\/a> in national polls, if he continues to win back a few thousand of the voters he lost in 2020 the path\u200c to victory certainly exists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McLaughlin argues that Trump is\u2064 doing better in \u200cthe \u2064polls than Biden because Americans are comparing their records and have a negative view of the economy, crime, the border and other issues under \u200dthe \u2063current administration, which the pollster characterized as \u201cbuyers\u2019 remorse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are a \u200blot of \u2063trends here that are helping President Trump, and he\u2019s making a very clear and effective\u200c case \u200cthat \u200che will be a successful president again,\u201d said McLaughlin.<\/p>\n<p>Though Kyle Kondik, nonpartisan polling analyst and managing editor for Sabato\u2019s \u200cCrystal\u200b Ball\u200d at the University \u2062of Virginia\u2019s Center for \u200dPolitics, believes\u2062 that\u200b head-to-head matchups for \u200cthe\u200b general in 2024 don\u2019t hold \u201ca ton of predictive value\u201d currently,\u200c he told \u2064the DCNF the recent surveys indicate the\u2063 race \u2062will \u2064be \u201cclose and competitive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2062 may be like 2016 given that \u2063both Biden and Trump are unpopular, just like Clinton and Trump that cycle. In that race, the\u200d candidate who was\u2064 NOT in the news seemed to do\u2062 better. I \u2064kind of wonder if that is hurting Biden a little now, given that he\u2019s the incumbent \u200cand Trump is not super-visible right now (he\u2019s skipping the debates, etc.),\u201d Kondik said.<\/p>\n<p>The RealClearPolitics\u200c (RCP) average for a 2024 general election matchup between Trump and\u2064 Biden, based on polls conducted between Sept.\u2062 14 and Oct. 3, indicates the\u2063 former \u2063president is ahead by 1.1\u2064 points.<\/p>\n<p>A \u200cRepublican nominee like \u2064Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis or former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley would have a better chance\u2062 than Trump against Biden, according to Jon McHenry, a GOP polling analyst and vice president at\u200b North Star Opinion Research. Despite this, McHenry told\u2064 the DCNF \u200dthat Trump could beat Biden on the basis of the economy,\u2063 though \u200dhe acknowledged it\u2019s still too \u2062close to call.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have such a unique situation right now with both party\u2019s leading candidates in negative territory on\u2064 their \u200bfavorable to unfavorable ratings \u2014 and the current \u2064and previous officeholder. Reelection campaigns are typically a two-step \u200cprocess\u200c as a referendum on the incumbent: first, does he or \u200bshe deserve \u2062reelection,\u200b and \u2064second, would\u2063 the \u200dother candidate do \u2064better?
