In a hierarchy that begins with sports cars and ends with hypercars, supercars are the high-performance middle, featuring vehicles that are more than capable of tearing up the track and leaving common sports cars in the dust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But as Leiters points out, EV technology is simply <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/embarrassing-limitations-evs-became-painfully-clear-arctic-blast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not up to snuff<\/a> to deliver supercar performance, and it won\u2019t be for many years to come.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWeight is \u2063super important, you \u200dneed also the right range,\u201d Leiters said. \u201cI don\u2019t expect this technology\u200b to be ready for real supercars before the end of the \u200bdecade.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Leiters\u200c explained one major reason why \u2063electric technology doesn\u2019t work for a supercar is that the tech makes a heavy vehicle that is less responsive and far less nimble on \u2064the road. \u201cWeight is at the core of our brand,\u201d Leiters said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t want to \u2062do an electric car which weighs two tons and then has 2,000 horsepower,\u201d the carmaker added, saying that a high-performance EV could not weigh\u2062 more than 3,300 pounds.<\/p>\n<p>While Leiters isn\u2019t interested \u2062in\u200b trying to\u200b create an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/electric-vehicles-owners-drop-truth-bomb-charging-logistical-nightmare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">electric<\/a> supercar,\u2063 he \u2062did\u2064 say \u200chis company might be interested in sport\u2063 utility vehicles. But \u2063they are leaning toward hybrids, instead of solely electric.<\/p>\n<p>McLaren has reported that its global sales in\u200d the first half of 2023 grew 52 percent.\u200d But that \u2064still only accounts for 1,292 cars. So it isn\u2019t as\u2062 if McLaren is a\u200b high-volume manufacturer. This also shows \u2063why they aren\u2019t much interested in going electric. They have their niche\u200c market, so why muck about with that?<\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg noted that more and more manufacturers are tooling up to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-unveils-2030-target-of-50-electric-vehicles\/\" title=\"Biden unveils 2030 target of 50% electric vehicles\">make electric vehicles<\/a>, but so far, many of these companies are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasstandard.org\/stories\/rivian-automotive-ev-electric-vehicle-rt1-car-company\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">losing their\u200b shirts<\/a> on EVs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-lordstown-motors-files-chapter-11-bankruptcy-protection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Some<\/a> are even already going <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ev-company-biden-admin-loves-declares-bankruptcy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bankrupt<\/a>. One has to wonder how long until they all see the reality and start to pull back on the foolish headlong rush\u2064 to EVs?<\/p>\n<p>Still, Leiters is not the only car maker who has \u200csaid that EVs are not a major\u2062 focus.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, Toyota Motor Corporation President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/toyota-president-admits-silent-majority-auto-industry-leery-massive-electric-vehicle-push\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Akio Toyoda noted<\/a> that many industry insiders privately tell each other that EVs are not that feasible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople involved in the auto industry\u2062 are largely a\u2063 silent majority,\u201d Toyoda said. \u201cThat silent majority is wondering whether EVs are really OK to have as a single option. But they think it\u2019s the trend so \u200dthey can\u2019t \u200bspeak out\u2063 loudly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Toyoda should have listened to those\u200c voices, too, because his company\u2019s first big EV release suffered a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/now-wheels-wont-stay-toyotas-new-electric-car-dangerously-fails-results-massive-recall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">massive recall<\/a> for \u2064faulty manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>As we get farther into the EV era, though, we are seeing the limitations of the whole concept looming at the forefront. For one thing, they aren\u2019t as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/one-overlooked-detail-governments-electric-vehicle-scheme-seismic-effect-environment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">environmentally friendly<\/a> as advocates claim, and with current \u200dlimitations on the\u2062 technology, it seems unlikely that EVs can\u200b be the\u200b immediate future of the industry. But as Toyoda noted, many car industry executives are afraid to speak out because radical leftist enviro-activists are intimidating everyone to stay quiet, not just in the U.S., but across the world.<\/p>\n<p>It also appears that the number of EV early\u200b adopters is about satisfied and many EVs are now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ford-pushes-back-electric-vehicle-target-admits-transition-will-slower-industry-expected\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sitting unwanted<\/a> at \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ev-fail-car-dealers-turning-away-electric-vehicles-learning-harsh-economics-lesson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">car dealerships<\/a> all across the U.S.A. It appears that Americans are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/firefighters-issue-warning-ev-fires-require-10x-water-put-10000-gallons-water\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not ready<\/a> for an all-EV transportation revolution.<\/p>\n<p>This\u2063 has stunned car industry \u200banalysts, \u200ctoo. Apparently, they\u2062 simply assumed Americans would clamor for EVs. But it does not seem to be the \u200ccase \u2014\u200b at least, not\u2062 yet. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/reports\/global-ev-outlook-2023\/executive-summary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Energy Agency<\/a>, EVs only accounted for about 8 percent of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/199974\/us-car-sales-since-1951\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">13.75 million<\/a> cars and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/youngkin-vows-to-halt-virginias-ridiculous-california-style-ban-on-gas-powered-cars\/\" title=\"Youngkin Vows to Halt Virginia\u2019s \u2018Ridiculous\u2019 California-Style Ban on Gas Powered Cars\">light trucks sold<\/a> in the \u2062U.S. in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>On top of \u200dall that, the cost \u2063of\u200d these cars is \u200dfar out of reach for lower-income Americans. Currently, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/girls-electric-car-needs-new-battery-expensive-vehicle-gets-even-worse-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EVs start<\/a> at around $50,000 and the costs\u200b go up from there. This \u200bis about an entire year\u2019s salary for many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mclaren-ceo-dumps-cold-water-on-electric-supercar-itll-be-a-long-time-before-we-see-one-of-these\/\" title=\"McLaren CEO Dumps Cold Water on Electric Supercar - It'll Be a Long Time Before We See One of These\">lower middle-class\u200d income earners<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are also all sorts \u200dof manufacturing\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/think-price-oil-bad-lithium-needed-make-electric-cars-472-since-last-march\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">issues<\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/report-evs-facing-total-scarcity-critical-component-spells-disaster-biden-goals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cannot<\/a> be surmounted because\u200b neither the technology nor \u2064the materials\u200b exist to solve them.<\/p>\n<p>There are far,\u2063 far\u2064 more problems with EVs than those\u200b listed here, of course.
