The case of\u2063 Dassey\u2019s Uncle Steven Avery \u2062gained\u2063 popularity through the Emmy-Award-winning series,\u2063 which portrayed Avery as an\u200c innocent victim \u2062of corrupt \u200claw enforcement in the murder\u2063 of\u2063 Teresa Halbach.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Walsh finds it \u201cdisturbing\u201d when \u2063people \u200bargue \u200cthat despite the evidence proving \u2064Dassey&#8217;s guilt, he shouldn&#8217;t be in prison because of his\u2063 age or low\u200c IQ.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWhen you present a lot \u2062of\u200b the facts that you present\u2063 in \u2018Convicting a Murderer,\u2019 that\u2019s when yeah,\u2062 you get to the pivot where \u2064they say, well, even \u200cif he is guilty, he shouldn\u2019t be in prison because he was 16 and \u200dall this\u2062 kind of stuff,\u201d\u2062 Walsh told Owens.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAnd that I\u200b find \u200dpretty disturbing, considering if you\u2019re willing to admit that he\u2019s \u2062guilty, he\u2019s obviously guilty as hell,\u201d \u2064he added. \u2062\u201cWhat if you are capable of doing something like \u200dthat to a person at any age, it already means \u200bthat you\u2019re not fit to be free and \u200cto be out in\u2062 society. And it\u2019s a little bit like the insanity\u2062 defense.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAnd in \u2063this case, they\u2019re saying he\u2019s not culpable because of, you know, mental stupidity, likability, mental issues, age, whatever,\u201d Walsh continued. \u201cWell, even then, \u2064you can \u2063make\u200d the argument that if he did that \u2063because he wasn\u2019t culpable, then\u2064 he\u2019s\u2062 even more of a danger to society because \u2026 you can\u2019t reform that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Owens pointed out \u2063that on Reddit threads, people keep talking about Avery\u2019s and\u2063 Dassey\u2019s low IQ, and\u200c she asked Walsh\u200c how that would even change things.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE\u200c APP<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs if that changes \u200bthings where \u2064we go, okay, well, I know that you raped and murdered and burned this individual, but \u2064you \u2062have a very low IQ,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think if you looked at the average IQ of\u200b violent criminals, it\u2019s almost always going to be pretty low. Their average \u200bIQ\u2062 is probably lower\u200c than the people who\u200c are not in \u2063prison,\u201d Walsh\u200c replied.<\/p>\n<p>Owens \u2064then showed a clip\u200b from Episode 7\u2063 of Dassey\u2019s interrogation \u2063when \u2063he told authorities that Avery wanted\u200d him to keep raping Halbach.<\/p>\n<p>Owens\u2064 said it\u2063 was this part \u2063that \u200cmade people \u201creally \u2063sad for Brendan\u201d \u2063and she said it even \u200csparked \u2064a conspiracy\u2062 theory,\u2064 which wasn\u2019t true,\u2062 \u201cthat \u200dthe police\u2063 somehow poisoned Brendan to pretend that these things happened\u2064 because they wanted Stephen Avery so bad and actually \u2063had nothing to do\u200c with anything.\u200c And he was completely innocent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the new series, Owens shows the\u2064 portion\u2062 of Dassey \u2064confessing to raping Halbach, something she\u2062 said was \u201cconveniently left out\u201d of the Netflix series.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd so\u2064 it\u2019s very hard for me to understand why \u2064the sympathy\u200d is being placed on Brendan and not\u2063 on \u2064the 22-year-old [woman] who \u200bwas\u200b brutally raped and stabbed \u200cand subsequently shot and \u200bburned in a pit in somebody\u2019s yard,\u201d \u2063said\u2063 Owens.<\/p>\n<p>Walsh agreed and said that after watching the Netflix series and hearing Dassey\u2019s description of the murder to\u200b police, \u2062he believed his \u2062age had no bearing on his guilt or innocence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I was 16, \u2063I \u200cwas peer pressured to jump\u2062 from the\u2064 top of my\u2062 friend\u2019s roof into a wading pool,\u201d the Daily Wire host said. \u201cAnd I \u200bdid it because I was kind of like 16-year-old.
