Cohen served a prison term from May 2019\u200b to July \u200b2020 for these charges.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The former president has consistently denied both the affairs and making \u2063the payments. <\/p>\n<h2>Lawsuit Against Cohen<\/h2>\n<p> President Trump&#8217;s\u200b civil \u200clawsuit against Cohen\u200d demanded a jury\u200d trial \u200cand sought damages that were expected \u2063to exceed $500 million.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The civil\u2063 lawsuit accused Cohen of\u2064 violating a confidentiality \u2064agreement he signed\u2063 as a condition of\u200c his employment. President Trump also alleged that \u2064Cohen spread \u2063falsehoods with malicious intent \u200dand caused\u200c significant damage to his\u2063 reputation by \u2063publicly discussing\u2064 the hush-money payments, which \u2062are central to other criminal charges the former president currently faces in New York.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Manhattan District Attorney \u2062Alvin Bragg&#8217;s criminal case against President Trump is partly based on a payment he allegedly made\u2062 to Stormy Daniels through\u2062 Cohen.
