We just want\u2063 people to have the freedom,'&#8221; Vance declared during his speech at\u200c the Ohio March for Life event in Columbus. \u2063He shared his personal encounters with lower-income women who felt\u200c pressured into terminating their pregnancies. \u200c&#8221;It was never about freedom. They\u200b were pressured into it, sometimes by a \u2063boyfriend or, \u2063God forbid, a parent. They felt trapped,\u2064 with no\u200d other\u200d options. They worried\u200b about their ability\u2063 to care for\u2064 a child. Well, we are here to\u200d tell\u200b them that there is a choice: \u200bWe\u2062 must\u200d choose life and fight \u2064for\u200b it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The\u200b Ohio ballot measure \u2063follows\u2064 an unsuccessful attempt by\u200b opponents to raise the majority \u200cthreshold\u2064 required for passing constitutional amendments in the state. They are not on your side.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He continued, &#8220;For 50 \u2063years, \u200bunborn babies have been discarded in\u200d this country. We have conveyed to our society\u2064 that everything\u2014education, jobs, and everything else\u2014is more important \u200dthan the most vulnerable members of our society.\u2062 It was a mistake, and we have \u2064been making it\u2062 for 50 years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The ballot\u2064 measure is supported by Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties\u200d Union (ACLU), which Vance highlighted in his speech. However, here in Ohio, the government is making those decisions for us. They have already banned abortion, even in cases of \u200crape and incest.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Vance argued that the backers of the measure aim to surpass the standards set by Roe\u200c v. \u2063Wade\u200d and transform Ohio into the &#8220;most radical pro-abortion state in the entire\u200b country.&#8221; He asserted, &#8220;This\u2062 is not about freedom; it is about control.\u200b It\u2064 is about taking control away from parents and \u2064placing\u200b it in the hands of bureaucrats and\u200b judges. It is about depriving our people of the choice to choose life \u2062and handing it over\u2062 to out-of-state interests.
