In a bold statement released on Thursday, the university accuses the Education Department of colluding\u2064 with\u2062 other\u200d federal agencies to bring harm to the institution.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Government officials associated with the U.S. Department of Education (ED),\u200d Federal Trade Commission\u200c (FTC) and under \u200dthe authority of the\u200c Department of\u2064 Veterans Affairs (VA) are coordinating efforts to unjustly target GCU in what appears to be retaliation for the university filing an ongoing lawsuit against\u200b ED regarding\u2064 its nonprofit status,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>reads a\u2062 university press\u200d release.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While such\u200b accusations may \u2062sound extraordinary,\u200b the facts in this document make clear that this\u2064 is occurring at an alarming level for government agencies to be taking \u200cagainst the largest Christian university in the country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The university&#8217;s claims have been met with silence from the Department of\u200d Veterans Affairs, while the Department of Education and the FTC have\u2063 not responded \u2062to inquiries. The controversy stems from\u200d the\u200c Education Department&#8217;s \u200cdenial of the\u200c university&#8217;s application to \u2064regain non-profit status, which coincided with \u200dthe FTC&#8217;s crackdown on for-profit schools.<\/p>\n<p>Grand Canyon University, which\u200d started as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-biden-administration-finally-finds-an-immigrant-family-it-wants-to-deport\/\" title=\"Biden Administration targets immigrant family for deportation.\">small private university<\/a> in 1949, operated as a non-profit until 2004\u2063 when\u200c it faced significant debt.\u2062 After a change in management in\u200b 2008, the university sought investors to save the school and applied for non-profit\u200d status \u200dagain \u200cin\u200b 2018.
