Hawk discussing the defending Super Bowl Champion Chiefs\u2019 narrow 23-20 victory over the Jets in New York on \u2064Sunday \u2063night.<\/p>\n<p>Kansas City raced to a 17-0 first-quarter lead behind a \u2064strong running game and star quarterback \u200bPatrick Mahomes.<\/p>\n<p>For the remainder of the game, however, New \u2062York\u2019s talented defense held\u200b the powerful Chiefs without a touchdown. This \u2063allowed \u200cthe Jets to mount a rally and tie the game at 20-20 in the second half. Kansas City regained the lead, however, on \u2064what proved \u2063to be a\u2064 game-winning fourth-quarter field goal.<\/p>\n<p>Rodgers noted\u2063 that the Jets have received praise for staying competitive and keeping the Chiefs\u2019 two offensive stars in check.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think there\u2019s some sentiment that there\u2019s some sort of moral\u200c victory out there that we hung with the champs and that our \u2064defense played well and that Pat [Mahomes] didn\u2019t have a crazy game,\u201d Rodgers said.<\/p>\n<p>An \u200dordinary bit \u200cof football analysis, however, quickly turned \u200camusing \u2014 at least to McAfee and Hawk.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Pfizer, we kind of shut him\u2062 down a little bit,\u201d Rodgers said in reference to Kelce.<\/p>\n<p>McAfee immediately \u200ccracked up and \u2064tried to suppress laughter while Rodgers continued talking. Hawk smiled and shook his head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe didn\u2019t\u2064 have his crazy impact game,\u201d Rodgers added of Kelce. \u201cHe had some yards and stuff. At \u2063one point,\u200c he referred to himself as having\u2063 been \u201cimmunized,\u201d a statement he later acknowledged\u2064 as misleading.<\/p>\n<p>Rodgers nonetheless remained unvaccinated and stood by his stated preference for alternative COVID treatments.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, McAfee had to\u2062 follow up on Rodgers\u2019 gentle dig at \u2064a fellow\u200b player.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou did talk to Mr.\u2064 Pfizer \u2014 you talked to Travis \u2014 pregame. And \u2064obviously that \u200cwas recorded,\u201d\u2064 a chuckling McAfee said\u2063 in \u2062reference to a clip of a pregame conversation between Rodgers and Kelce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat were you\u200c talking about here? Were you \u2062talking about different\u200d vax and what\u2019s potentially the\u200d one for you?\u201d McAfee\u200b cheekily asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think some things need to be \u2064left \u2063on the field. It\u2019s actually\u2064 a better\u2062 story probably\u2063 left up to \u2063the imagination,\u201d Rodgers replied.<\/p>\n<p>Rodgers made\u2064 it clear that he has nothing against Kelce personally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve known him for a long time, and it was just a quick \u2062chat,\u201d Rodgers said.<\/p>\n<p>After a minute\u2019s worth \u2064of jocular allusions to Rodgers\u2019 2021 controversy, McAfee brought the conversation back to Kelce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOK, let\u2019s talk about a story that you\u2064 \u2014 [laughs] Mr. Pfizer. How good did\u2064 that feel coming out? Mr. Pfizer? You been planning \u200bon that?\u201d McAfee asked.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200dunderstated Rodgers remained deadpan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo. I \u2062mean he\u2019s, you know, he\u2019s doing commercials for Pfizer, so \u2063I\u2019m sure he\u2019s\u2063 owning it,\u201d Rodgers said.<\/p>\n<p>When Hawk and McAfee reminded Rodgers that Kelce does commercials \u2063for other companies, \u200dtoo, the quarterback acted nonplussed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was watching\u200c the game.\u2062 I couldn\u2019t hear the commercials,\u201d Rodgers said.<\/p>\n<p>For tens of millions of unvaccinated Americans, \u2063Rodgers\u2019 \u201cMr. Pfizer\u201d comment no doubt produced reactions that defy easy explanation.<\/p>\n<p>For one thing, we might feel a deep sense of satisfaction that\u200c he \u2064made the comment on woke ESPN. That moribund network has benefited from Pfizer\u2019s advertising largesse.<\/p>\n<p>One can only imagine \u2014 and it \u2062does gratify us to \u2063imagine \u2014 ESPN \u200bexecutives\u2019 horrified reaction to Rodgers\u2019 comment.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, Pfizer\u2019s ubiquitousness partly explains our satisfaction.<\/p>\n<p>After all, the pharmaceutical behemoth practically pays for the corporate news, which then spreads pro-vaccine propaganda.<\/p>\n<p>Recall, for instance, a 2021 viral montage of clips showing Pfizer\u2019s sponsorship of various\u200d news programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, this is totally normal and not at all a conflict of interest,\u201d writer and journalist \u200bWhitney Webb posted while sharing the montage on X the social media platform previously known as Twitter.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Well, this\u2062 is totally normal\u200d and not \u2062at all a conflict \u2064of interest <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4MKm0VozBC\">pic.twitter.com\/4MKm0VozBC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Whitney Webb (@_whitneywebb)\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_whitneywebb\/status\/1450464402000556039?\">October 19, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Finally, Rodgers did not simply hang the \u201cMr.\u2064 Pfizer\u201d label on an NFL star.\u2062 He hung that label on pop star Taylor Swift\u2019s boyfriend.<\/p>\n<p>Swift and Kelce recently started dating, which does not interest me \u200bin the least.
