THEY did this,\u201d he said in an Oct. \u200c1\u200c post on X.<\/p>\n<p>In \u2063an Oct.\u2062 3 X\u200c post, Mr. Rosendale said, \u201cI \u200chave \u200dkept my promise to the people of Montana by\u2063 voting \u200bto\u2064 make us energy-dominant again,\u200c secure our border, cut spending, and to\u2063 put\u200c an end to\u2062 the social experiment being inflicted on\u2062 our military.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just \u200dthe opposite, said Mr. Hewitt, whose nationally syndicated morning show is \u2064heard\u200c on \u200b75 stations by 7.5 million weekly\u200c listeners, claiming Gaetz-led holdouts, including Mr. Rosendale, are doing more harm than good for the GOP\u2019s 2024 prospects.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Hewitt challenged the strategy behind the gambit to force greater spending cuts than \u200bthose agreed to in May\u2019s McCarthy\u2013Biden debt ceiling deal, and in infusing appropriations\u2062 bills with \u201cculture \u2062war\u201d\u200b amendments guaranteed to be rejected by the Democrat-majority Senate.<\/p>\n<p>He said the ploy has endangered Republicans in purple congressional districts and the GOP\u2019s odds of retaining, if \u200cnot \u200cenlarging, its 222\u2013212 House advantage in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 40 new [House Republican] members are instantly endangered as donors\/volunteers flee,\u201d Mr. Hewitt \u2062wrote. \u200d\u201cIf former \u200bPresident\u200c [Donald] Trump becomes president\u2063 again,\u200d a new [Democrat] majority will be waiting with new Articles\u200b of Impeachment, thanks to Gaetz antics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the hardliners are more interested \u2064in being \u200ccenter-of-attention \u200cperformers than lawmakers,\u2063 singling out Mr. Rosendale. \u201c\u2018Maryland \u200dMatt\u2019\u200c Rosendale \u200dis \u200dnot actually interested in the best interest of Montana voters. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) Gov. Greg Gianforte, \u2062and Rep. Ryan\u200d Zinke (R-Mont.).<\/p>\n<p>The first-time \u200ccandidate is\u2062 currently unopposed in the Republican\u2063 primary to challenge Mr. Tester, who defeated Mr. Rosendale\u2014then state \u200bauditor\u2014in\u200c 2018 by \u2062nearly 4 percentage points. Because the\u200d Maryland native is\u200d a relative \u200dnewcomer to Montana, critics in the\u2062 state have\u2064 dubbed him \u201cMaryland Matt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For the most\u2063 part, Mr. Sheehy has ignored Mr. Rosendale\u2019s jibes, \u2062although he \u2062referred\u2063 to him in a September &#8220;Fox and Friends&#8221; appearance as\u2062 \u201can insider that\u2063 nobody likes\u201d and \u201ca career politician\u2013eight offices in 13 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Sheehy is not \u200cdirectly commenting on Mr. Rosendale\u2019s role in the budget drama, keeping his\u2062 focus on defeating Mr. Tester, campaign spokesperson Katie\u200d Martin told The \u2064Epoch\u2063 Times \u2064in\u200c late September.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need a\u2064 new generation of conservative leadership to help bring Montanans more jobs, cheap gas, a \u2064secure border, a strong economy, and \u2063a sane foreign policy that puts America\u2062 First,\u201d Mr.\u2062 Sheehy said in a Oct. 3 X post.<\/p>\n<p>Without mentioning\u2064 Mr. Rosendale, Mr. Daines\u2014who is steering GOP \u2062Senate campaign strategies\u2014said he and other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rep-rosendales-role-in-budget-drama-draws-national-flak-2024-election-scrutiny-in-montana\/\" title=\"Rep.
