Burchett&#8217;s decision comes after Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida called for \u2062McCarthy&#8217;s removal due \u200bto his collaboration with Democrats on \u2063a \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/congress-faces-an-absolutely-brutal-september-filled-with-high-stakes-deadlines\/\" title=\"Congress Faces An Absolutely Brutal September Filled With High-Stakes Deadlines\">continuing resolution<\/a>\u2062 to keep the government open. While McCarthy had the support of a majority of the Republican caucus, Gaetz and at least five other members have decided that enough is enough and it&#8217;s time for\u200d McCarthy \u2063to \u200cgo.<\/p>\n<p>The representatives who are open to removing\u2062 McCarthy include Burchett, Andy Biggs \u2064and Eli Crane of Arizona, Bob Good of\u2063 Virginia, and \u2063Matt Rosendale\u200b of Montana. \u200bOther representatives, such as Lauren\u200c Boebert of Colorado, \u2062John Brecheen of Oklahoma, Nancy Mace \u200dof South Carolina, Victoria Spartz of Indiana, and Wesley Hunt\u2064 of \u200cTexas,\u2063 are also considering removing McCarthy.<\/p>\n<p>The motion\u200d to vacate\u200c the \u2063speaker&#8217;s chair failed, meaning the vote on whether \u200bto remove McCarthy will \u2064proceed. McCarthy can \u2063only afford \u200bto\u200b lose four GOP\u200b representatives \u200band still \u200bretain the speakership, so he will need to\u200d gain some Democratic votes\u200c to \u200cstay in power.<\/p>\n<p>Burchett, who previously voted for \u200bMcCarthy to become\u2064 speaker, explained his change \u2064of heart \u2064by stating \u200bthat the country&#8217;s $33\u200b trillion debt and \u2064the lack\u200c of urgency in \u200daddressing it influenced his decision. He emphasized the\u2062 need for Republicans\u200c to fulfill\u200b their \u200cresponsibility of funding the\u2064 government through \u200dthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republican-congressman-mccarthy-is-my-friend-but-i-must-follow-my-conscience\/\" title=\"GOP Rep: McCarthy's My Pal, But My Conscience Comes First\">regular budgetary process<\/a>, rather than\u2062 relying on continuing resolutions.<\/p>\n<p>Despite losing McCarthy as a friend, Burchett believes that \u2064voting to remove him is necessary to \u200cprevent further damage to the country. His decision carries\u200b weight,\u2062 as\u2062 he initially\u2063 supported \u2063McCarthy&#8217;s speakership while Gaetz, Biggs,\u2063 Rosendale,\u200d Good, and Crane did not.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy defended his decision to\u200c work with Democrats on the continuing resolution, stating that he took a risk to keep the government open \u200band \u200bensure that\u2063 the families of troops and border \u2062agents would \u200cget paid. He \u200bis willing \u2062to accept\u200b the consequences of losing the speakership if it means standing up for his\u2064 actions.<\/p>\n<p>It appears that enough representatives will vote against McCarthy, leading to his removal as speaker. We are rapidly approaching that point,\u201d Burchett added.<\/p>\n<p>He concluded that \u201ccome hell or high water\u201d he\u2019ll vote to remove McCarthy \u2063as speaker.<\/p>\n<p>Burchett\u2019s decision is a big deal.<\/p>\n<p>Gaetz, Biggs, Rosendale, Good, and Crane \u2063did not\u200d support McCarthy\u2063 for\u2063 speaker from the start.<\/p>\n<p>Burchett\u2063 did.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy defended his backing of a \u201cclean\u201d continuing resolution that kept the government open.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI made a decision to take a risk to keep the\u200d government open,\u201d he said \u200bon CNBC.<\/p>\n<p>If he \u2062loses the speakership because\u2064 of it, that\u2019s \u2062something he appears ready\u2062 to accept.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet the chips fall \u2063where they may,\u201d McCarthy said.<\/p>\n<p>So far, \u200cit seems as though enough chips will fall against him that he\u2019ll lose \u200bthe speakership.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><em><b>A Note from Our Deputy \u2064Managing Editor:<\/b><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I walked into \u2063the office one morning and \u200cnoticed \u200dsomething\u2062 strange.
